Ari looked at the clock as she came back from shopping. Sh.it it was already eleven thirty. She had to hurry fast if she wanted to get everything ready for dinner tonight. Ari called for the girls to help bring in the groceries. Lachlan also had some young boys help as well. Ari was glad that he took his huge Tahoe to go shopping. It was filled to the brim with groceries. Ari grabbed a couple of things she needed and headed off to the kitchen.
Lachlan said his favorite dinner was lasagna which was perfect. Lasagna was her specialty. It was the only dish she could make better than her mother. Sadly there isn’t a huge secret behind it. One just has to use superior ingredients. Ari got out two large cast iron skillets as she got into the kitchen.
Ari quickly debated the best way to do this. Chili, work on the chili first. Ari got to work putting the hamburger in the pan and starting it to cook. Then she got out the crockpots for the chili. She got two of the largest ones out. Brie, Ariel, and two other boys were unloading the groceries.
“Please hand me chili beans, diced tomatoes, onions, bacon, and tomato juice when you find it. Also keep out the cheese, pasta sauce.” Ariel and Brie nodded their ascent. Ari pulled her longer blonde hair back into a ponytail. No one wanted hair in their food.
Some one handed her tomato juice. She quickly opened it, and dumped one in each of the crock pots. Followed by the diced tomatoes, and beans. Ari only used one can of beans for her chili, but this wasn’t hers so she dumped two cans in each crockpot. Ari started dicing the onions, while cooking the hamburger.
“Brie will you please fill a pot with water and put it on the stove to boil please?”
“Yes ma’am.” Ari finished browning up the hamburger.
“All right ladies the secret to good chili is two things, well three. You don’t fully drain the hamburger grease. The grease gives it extra flavor.” Ari dumped one pan of hamburger into one crockpot. Then the second pan into the other.
“The others?” Ariel asked. Ari found the bacon bits.
“I always add bacon to mine, it add in a more smokey flavor. Also never eat chili on the same day you make it.”
“Why not?” Brie asked.
“It always tastes better when everything sits. Girl I believe it’s lunch time. Can you take care of it?” Ari asked looking at the clock. It was already past noon.
Sh.it! She needed to hurry and make the lasagna’s.
She started another three pounds of Hamburger and put lots of pasta in the pot to boil. She ran around the kitchen like a chicken with its head cut off.
“Can we help with anything?” Brie asked.
“Did you put all the groceries away?” She asked as she went looking for the cheese.
“Yes ma’am,” Ariel responded. Ari went back and tended to the hamburger.
The hamburger was browned then drained of fat. Then she drained and rinsed the lasagna pasta in a strainer. Ari started to prepare the lasagna. Ari kept a close eye on the clock, she was cutting it close.
“Can some one hand me a pen and paper.” Ari was making two large cake pans of lasagna, and she wasn’t sure if that was enough or not. People went crazy for her lasagna. Arianna wasn’t being boastful, she just used the best ingredients. She used the expensive Italian cheeses. Fresh Parmesan, feta cheese, Munster, the good mozzarella. Also lots of peoples problem is they add too many noodles. That’s my mothers anyway.
“Where is foil to cover the lasagna?” Ari asked the girls. Ari quickly wrote out some instructions.
“Since I won’t be here for dinner, make sure and use both ovens. I don’t know how long it will take to cook both lasagnas in the same oven. Keep the chill cooking for another three hours then put in the fridge okay?” Ari looked in the girls eyes making sure they understood.
“Make the lasagna with garlic bread and green beans, the garlic bread goes in the oven the last ten minutes of baking.”
“Ok Arianna we got it.”
“Thank you, I have to go or I’ll be late.” Arianna rushed out the door with her purse and headed to pick up her keys.
Arianna rushed to the pre-k and made it on time, but she was at the middle of the pick up line. Damn this was going to take forever. It took twenty minutes to pick up Rory. Then she had to rush to pick up Declan and Lili. She had to be there when the kids let out or Declan would panic. Ok she got to the school on time, but no parking spaces. Damn it! She cruised around for a parking space. Finally found one, got into the parking space. Arianna unbuckled Rory and quickly walked up to the lawn. Made it! There was no kids dismissed yet! Not a minute later the kids were dismissed.
Declan and Lili walk out the with teacher holding their hands. Crap that’s not a good sign.
“Lili had a good day, but Declan threw a bit of a tantrum today.” The teacher went into more detail about the tantrum and Ari talked about what she does at home to help. Then Ari got all the kids loaded up into the car which was a chore in of itself. Then the drive home. By the time everyone was in the house having their snack, Arianna simply fell onto the couch. Arianna hadn’t even been lying on the couch for ten minutes when the screaming started.
“Play nice!” She screamed into the kids rooms. Her phone in her pocket started vibrating. Arianna picked it up and saw it was her ex calling. She picked it up,
“Hey.”
“Hey, that’s it? I’ve been trying to get ahold of you all day and that’s all I get? Hey?”
“Ollie, I’ve been at work all day, what do you want?” Arianna didn’t say anything about how the tables were turned. She spent their marriage being the one at home waiting to hear from him.
“Can I come over for dinner?”
“Yeah, bring over pizza or something.”
“Okay,” Ari hung up and went to investigate the silence. That was never a good thing.
Lachlan
Ariel and Brie brought out the most delicious looking lasagna that he had ever seen. It was served with garlic bread and green beans. Eww, what werewolf like green beans. The girls were finished serving and were about to return to the kitchen.
“Girls, is there enough left for you?” Lachlan asked them. The girls bowed their head.
“Yes alpha, but you can have it if you want,” Brie stated.
“While that is a tempting offer, I have a feeling your Luna would have my head. Please plate it up and come sit with us.” Everyone looked at him baffled. While his pack treated omegas fairly, they were still a class apart. Lachlan had a feeling that Arianna wouldn’t stand for this. The girls quickly took a seat, knowing the alpha was waiting for them. Once they sat down Lachlan took his first bite of the lasagna. Mmmm, amazing.
Lachlan didn’t realize it but he was halfway through his meal and he was moaning out loud like he was having s*x. He would be more embarrassed but half the people at the table were doing the same.
“Alpha you Luna definitely is talented,” Leo his gamma said.
“She truly is,” Brie responded.
“It’s good daddy,” his son looked up at him with a smile. “Anything for des-des-“
“Dessert? I don’t know?” Lachlan looked at the two omegas.
“The Luna didn’t make anything homemade, but I know she bought plenty of snacks that we can have for deserts.”
“What do you say son?”
“Yay!”
“Mate is perfect.” His wolf rumbled seeing his son happy. Lachlan couldn’t disagree, it’s been too long since he felt so content.
