THE TWO COUPLES STEPPED into the kitchen, and Adam thumped Nick over the shoulder with enthusiasm. "I like it, man. You’ve got a nice ranch house here."
Adam's voice started Darren, and he dropped the empty bowl he was carrying to the sink. The dish fell on the wooden floorboards and broke into pieces.
Everyone’s eyes shifted from the slivers on the floor to the young man, and Adam's brows rose mockingly.
Darren stared at the two couples as well and bit his lower lip with apprehension. He had frozen on the spot and didn't know what to do. The man was also concerned about what Nick would think about his moving around the kitchen.
