DARCY AND DIANE WERE still playing cards with Darren when Kate came into the kitchen. They were so busy bickering that they didn’t even notice Kate’s arrival. Apparently, Darcy had won the third hand in a row, and the other two didn’t seem convinced that she hadn’t cheated.
Kate smiled and shook her head but decided to let them finish their squabble. She could wait for the guys to come before introducing herself to Darcy and Darren.
Nick, Adam, and Ryan had remained in the hallway near the front door to talk. Ryan asked Nick to tell him everything about what had happened before he offered sanctuary to Darren.
