THE MEN PATROLLED NICK’S territory systematically, as they had planned the night before. At the same time, they also helped Nick with his horses because he still needed to ride them. Ryan had agreed that they could reach some particular areas better on horseback than by car.
Initially, Ryan thought of taking the women with them as well, but Adam had firmly vetoed that plan. He didn’t believe that Diane should be on a horse in her situation.
Diane hadn’t contradicted him. She knew that she couldn’t change Adam’s mind when he went into protective mode. The stubborn setting of his chin and the hardness in his eyes didn’t invite to negotiations.
Kate and Darcy had refused going riding with the men. They didn’t want to leave Diane alone with Darren in the cottage. H
