Making It Official

I stayed in this house for an hour, as the headmistress told me that the classes is not that a huge requirement, and that could be the main reason why these guys would not even budge despite the fact that this time of the day should be class hours. I flopped on a soft and plushy seat on the floor and looked on them, they really take this whole as their relaxing break.

“Are you having a culture shock or something?” I heard Leigh asked to me.

“I think I am.” I plainly answered to him.

“That is a normal reaction. But you will use to it.” he said and get back on playing some video game or some sort.

“Lis, do you want some coffee or juice?” Luke offered to me, I looked on his direction as I saw him standing by the kitchen counter and holding a mug on his left hand and a carton of juice with his right.

“Can you make me an iced coffee instead?” I answered and his wide smile fades.

“We should order that out.” He answered as I scoffed in disbelief.

“I can—let me do it.” I was about to offer to do the drink myself when I saw Asley grabbed the mug from Luke’s hand and walked towards the coffee maker.

“Ah, we have that, right?” Luke exclaimed and I plainly chuckle while shaking my head in still disbelief.

I watched Asley’s back making me some iced coffee, I did not know that the arrogant guy would turn this way. But on the other hand, should I be afraid that maybe he will put something in my drink. I see myself sprang off from the seat and marched towards Asley’s direction.

“I can make myself a cup of coffee.” I firmly said to him the moment I stood beside him. He plainly laid his cold stares on me and get back on doing his work.

“Just sit back there and wait for it.” he coldly answered to me.

“Really? You do not have to bother yourself making me one.” I insisted, I saw his hand stopped moving and pushed the mug towards me.

“Suit yourself.” I do not know what is wrong with him? I know that I won against him in that little game, but are he not so being petty about it?

“Do not mind him, he is the leader, remember?” Brett said to me, as he opened the fridge and grabbed himself a can of soda.

“Guys, I have to go. Lisanna, are you okay staying here?” Kaira said as she looked at me, I smiled and nodded.

“Of course, the president should not be bothered.” I answered to her and she laughed.

“I was actually on my way for a shopping trip.” She said as I paused for a bit and awkwardly chuckles.

“You should ask my twin to come with you, she will be excited for it.” I just said and she nodded before finally leaving.

Now that I am now the only girl in this place, I do not know what to do. Like I do not have anything to do in here, I want to play a game but they were all busy playing with themselves. I wonder if that Erik guy would come over and ask for another game. Or should I call him over? But I do not know his number, but, does he not go to this campus?

“You are becoming scary.” Lyx said to me.

“What? What did I do?” I confusedly asked to him.

“In a minute you would be frowning and another minute you would be smiling sinisterly. Are you alright?” he said to me, this guy acts like he is the youngest among this group.

“Lyx, I want a game. Can you not invite others in this place?” I suggested to him but he quickly shook his head,

“No one can ever enter this place unless you are in this group. But in the arcade place you have been yesterday, you can invite people there.” He answered as I nodded in agreement.

“Then, invite them there. Let us have a betting game.” I exclaimed as I felt that he is staring behind me, and when I looked back- I saw everyone staring towards my direction.

“Call everyone, we are going to introduce a new member.” I heard Luke said.

“You are not introducing a new member without my permission.” Asley intervened.

“Do not tell me you would still be so petty and not accept her skills at all?” Luke answered back as Asley scoffed.

“That was just a little game, she could have beaten me out of a coincidence.” He insisted as I cackle.

“I cannot believe what I have just heard. Do you want to have a rematch? I would be gladly accepting it.” I said and he started walking towards me, he arrived and looked down on me straight to my eyes.

“In your dreams.” He answered and walks away.

“He is really that petty.” Luke said.

“I can hear that!” Asley yelled from a distance.

“Do you car race?” Leigh asked to me as I smirked.

“Is that a small question, or is that an invitation?” I arrogantly asked.

“Depends on how you take it.” he answered.

I just found myself wearing a racing suit, I am currently inside the locker room of the drag race arena. I did not know, once again, that there is something like this at a countryside. I am not sure if I just have some stigma towards countryside that whenever I think of this place, I can only picture out deep forest and running waters at the streams.

“Are you ready?” Luke asked to me.

“Who owns this place?” I asked to him.

“It was Leigh’s. If Asley do owns that arcade place, Leigh owns this one. That guy loves cars, you know.” He explained and that is why he asked me to have a game with him.

I also do love cars, driving them and even wanting to have my little collection. But, I did not even think of racing one. That is why I tried one time, I thought nothing would lose from me, well, aside from my life if ever I might be in an accident. But I really do love taking challenges so I learned how to race a car. I did not know that I would use it in this place where I should be having a new life different from mine back in the city.

“Come on, they are waiting for us.” He said as he extended his hand towards me. I smiled as I gladly accepted it, we are now walking out from the room.

Luke and I were walking in the dim hallways with our hands tied, on our way towards the light, like the end of a tunnel. I do not know what to expect, I actually do not know if I could win this game.

“You do not have to push yourself to win. Just enjoy the game.” I heard him said the moment we arrived by the door. I smirked and turned the doorknob.

“But where is the fun if I would not win in the end?” I said as I finally looked on him before fully opening the door.

I can see people out there. Not so many but enough for me to be conscious with my own skills. I see them waiting for us as well as Leigh who was standing in front of his car and fixing his tight suit.

“You look good in those, but you cannot still win against me.” he said to me like a little chat to heat the game up.

“Really? Save your breath and show it in the game.” I answered and walked towards the car designated.

I was about to get in the car when Luke pulled me towards him and suddenly gave me a hug. I did not have any time to react on it as people started to cheer and even my hands became frozen on the spot.

“Be careful.” He whispered at me with a smile. I would be lying if I say that my heart did not flutter any beat because of it.

“T-thanks.” That was the stupidest thing I have ever said from the second I arrived in this place called Aquadale.

He distanced himself from me, as he opened the car door behind me. I saw him put his hand above to avoid my head getting bump on it. That was a gentleman move and I am now starting to change my first impression on him. He closes the door and that was the signal that I should now be focusing on this deadly game.

I looked on the whole view I got in the driver’s seat, this car is pretty and I should ask for it when I win later. The whole race would only end in one round, there is now time limit but the distance of the arena from the starting point until the finish line is not that far. So I guess judging with the capacity of this car, I can go there in just few minutes.

I saw that people are now starting to be quiet the game was a about to start and I was just waiting for the gun fire to heard. I positioned my hands on the steering wheel and look forward, the moment I heard a loud gunshot, I stepped on the accelerator as hard as I could but that was a bit late because I already saw Leigh drove ahead of me. Of course, I would not let him got away and that make me come back to my senses. I should win this game.

There is a small screen at the dashboard of the car where I could see how was the distance that Leigh and I have, it is not that far but I still find hard to catch up with his pacing. Is this the skill of a real car racer?

“What now, little kid? Are you having regrets that you accepted this bout?” I heard Leigh’s irritating voice through the headphones I am wearing right now.

“Shut the hell up, the game has just getting started.” I firmly started and stepped on the gas once again. I do not have the time to stop, even if I could see a sharp curve ahead of me, I must go through it.

I did not have any second thoughts as I found myself leading the game. I small smile of satisfaction flashed on my face as I began driving in a much ease. I could hear Leigh grunts for a bit as I do now have the time to look around.

“You just got lucky.” That was the final words I heard as I again heard a loud whoosh sound coming from Leigh’s engine. He is again on lead and that made the people cheered as loud as they can. Looks like this whole game was betted by the audience. I know that for sure as the moment I got my lead, everyone in the arena became silent. It looks like their money was about go down in drain, not until Leigh recovered before I could even start my celebration.

“I hate you.” I whispered to myself as I again focused myself on driving this slow car. That is for sure because despite of me having on a maximum limit, the car has still not yet near Leigh’s bumper.

I could now hear the announcer was saying that the finish line is just about in a small distance. I must win this game- not by a coincidence but an evident win.

“Shit.” I heard Leigh’s cussed from the headphones and when I looked on his car, I saw that it made some slight differences, this is actually an open opportunity for me. I did not waste another second and make a sharp move ahead of him.

And that made me win the game.

The moment I get off from the car, Luke is the first one who greeted me with a tight hug once again. I smiled as I started patting his back like a kid.

“You did well.” He whispered at me as I chuckles softly.

“Of course, I am Lisanna for crying out loud.” I answered and that also made him laughs.

Maybe making this official would not hurt any a bit. Maybe I am starting to fall for this guy whom I just met in a day. Maybe I am now ready to have a fresh start, to look towards the direction of this guy.
