Chapter 2

1003 Words
At Yonderville Hospital, several bodyguards in black suits stormed the emergency room. They attacked the medical staff who were trying to save Ruby. Olivia was initially stunned. Then she cried out in heart-wrenching despair, "Who are you? What are you doing? My daughter is about to die!" Thud, thud, thud! A pair of leather shoes clacked against the floor. The sound echoed throughout the emergency room. A young, handsome man in a white suit entered with a evil smile. He said, "Olivia, have you thought it through? This car accident was just a small warning. Spend a few nights with me, and I'll cover all of your daughter's medical bills and get her the best doctor." Hearing this, Olivia turned towards the tall man. Her face was distorted with fury and hatred. She lunged at him, grabbed his tie, and screamed, "Michael Roberts! It was you! You had someone hit my daughter! Why? She's only four years old!" With eyes red but tearless, Olivia pounded her fists against the man in front of her. Tears must never be shown to the enemy! Slap! Michael Roberts harshly slapped Olivia across the face. He gripped her delicate wrist tightly, and scoffed, "Olivia! You brought this upon yourself! I've spent so much on you, and yet you ignore me! I know Ruby means everything to you. That's why I had a car hit her deliberately. Bang! Just imagine the sound of a car crashing into bones. Isn't it satisfying?" "You monster! I'm going to call the police! I'll fight you to the end!" Olivia tried her best to hold back her tears and struggle free. But Michael slapped her again. He grabbed her hair, pinched her swollen cheek stained with tears, and threatened, "Do you think you can fight me? Believe me. With just one word from me, no one in this hospital would treat your daughter! Would you like to see your poor little bastard die here? Listen..." On the hospital bed, Ruby was wearing an oxygen mask. She looked towards her mother and whispered, "Bad guy... You are a bad guy... Let go of my mommy... My daddy... is coming back soon. Mommy said Daddy would come to see me. Daddy will beat you... Daddy is a superhero..." Slap! Michael glanced at Ruby with disdain and slapped her. Ruby's weak voice stopped abruptly. Only her sobs remained. With her chin held by Michael, Olivia couldn't move at all. Tears streamed down her cheeks. "Ruby, my daughter, it's all Mommy's fault…" She started slapping herself and begged through her sobs, "Mr. Roberts, I beg you. Please spare us. Ruby is only four years old! I'll do anything you want. Anything. Just let the doctors save my daughter..." Olivia continuously slapped herself. Blood oozed from her head. However, Michael remained unmoved. He merely snorted and shook his head, "Olivia, save your energy. I didn't want to do this. You asked for it." He then pretentiously pulled out a handkerchief from his suit pocket and gently wiped Olivia's tears with one hand. However, the other hand kneaded her waist and slowly moved toward the inside of her thigh under her skirt. Olivia trembled but dared not dodge. "Alright, you have ten minutes to doll yourself up. I'll wait for you in the car outside. Remember, your choice determines whether your daughter lives or dies." Michael leered, purring into Olivia's ear, "Olivia, I can't wait to see what you can do in bed. Hahaha!" After saying this, Michael turned and left the emergency room. As soon as he stepped out, his face turned fierce. He commanded his men, "Once she comes out, no medical staff should enter the room to save that little bastard! I want her dead!" "Yes, Mr. Roberts!" the bodyguards responded. Inside the room, Olivia tightly grasped Ruby's small hand. Olivia gently wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes. "Ruby, honey, don't cry. Mommy is here. Don't be afraid." "Mommy, it hurts. When will Daddy come to see me? Mommy, don't go with that man. He's a bad guy." Ruby gazed at Olivia. Olivia wiped away her tears and took deep breaths. She kissed Ruby's forehead. Her lips trembled as she forced a smile. "Don't worry, Ruby. I'll be right back. Here is Daddy's phone number. If you miss him, just give him a call. Daddy will definitely come back. You always wanted to see Daddy, didn't you? Be strong, Ruby." Leaving her phone with Ruby, Olivia stood up. She glanced at her poor daughter one last time, and dashed into the restroom. She apply her makeup. Finally, she looked at her glamorous reflection in the mirror, held back her tears, and placed a fruit knife into her handbag. Afterward, she exited the room and walked out to the front of the hospital. She saw a parking Mercedes-Benz S. Olivia clutched her handbag tightly and took a deep breath. Then she got into the car. "Drive," said Michael. He puffed on a cigar with a cunning smirk on his face. Meanwhile, in the emergency room, the medical staff wanted to rush in to administer urgent care to Ruby. Michael's men blocked them at the door. "No one is permitted near this room! Violators will be killed!" "That little girl will die if she doesn't receive surgery soon!" The medical staff, driven by their professional ethics, were anxious for Ruby. But when they saw the guns in the hands of the bodyguards, they could only watch helplessly. Ruby trembled continuously and blood oozed from her wounds. "Mommy, it hurts. Daddy, when are you coming back? Mommy was taken away by the bad guy. I'm so tired. It hurts so much." Ruby kept talking on the phone Olivia had left. Just then, a bodyguard in a black suit walked in. He snatched the phone from Ruby's hand and smashed it on the floor. He shouted fiercely, "Little bastard, who are you calling? Do you want to die?" He quickly pulled off Ruby's oxygen mask.
