Chapter 5

"General, I've ordered all local garrison troops in Yonderville to stand by. But I'm afraid that the presence of the special forces soldiers can cause unnecessary trouble and public outcry," Derek's adjutant expressed his concern. "What should we do now?" Derek's expression darkened, his demeanor serious. "You go to Yonderville yourself! And make it quick!" Then, Derek looked at the dense red dots representing special forces soldiers on the electronic screen behind him. He picked up the phone again. "Notify Yonderville now! Ask the government departments, police, and local garrison to report on Yonderville's situation every half hour! Remember, the mayor of Yonderville must personally take responsibility! Tell him he can't afford the consequences if there are any mistakes!" Meanwhile, the news had spread. The sudden mobilization of all soldiers under Jonathan's command from the island base had created a stir. It shocked the whole world! Yet, no one knew their destination was Yonderville. However, Yonderville still remained calm before the impending chaos. In a suburban villa in Yonderville, Jonathan had woken up. Earlier, due to intense emotion, his old injuries had flared up. But after receiving top medical treatment now, he was temporarily out of danger. "General, you've been fighting for years, and your injuries have been for too long. You mustn't get so angry again. If this happens, it could be extremely dangerous!" A professor-looking doctor spoke earnestly beside Jonathan. "Thank you. I'll be careful." Jonathan nodded slightly, his eyes flashing with urgency. "By the way, how is my daughter? She's badly injured!" "Rest assured, General. Our team has just conducted an examination, and after a full rescue effort, your daughter is temporarily out of danger. We will continue to monitor her in the ICU." The doctor paused, then added, "However, we discovered something unusual. Your daughter's injuries are severe. It's not just a simple car accident. Our medical examination shows that she must have been assaulted before or after the incident." "What did you say?!" Jonathan's face flushed with anger, and he immediately rushed to Ruby's room. Ruby lay in bed. Her injuries had been carefully tended, but her face was still pale. She remained in a critical condition. As Jonathan quietly approached the bed, a sharp pang of anguish pierced his heart. A nurse, holding a report, shook her head. "General, to be honest, your daughter has four broken ribs and multiple internal and soft tissue injuries. Her recovery will be a long process. Additionally, her head injury may not be serious now, but might have long-term impacts." Jonathan trembled with hatred towards the murderer of the car accident! His daughter was hurt so badly! He bent down and gently touched Ruby's adorable face and her eyes that resembled Olivia's. Ruby smiled slightly, seemingly happy to finally see the father she hadn't met in five years. Jonathan's heart softened at once. He kissed Ruby's cheek gently and whispered, "Ruby, my little princess, I'll make sure you wake up no matter what it takes. From now on, no one will ever bully you or your mother again. Get some rest. When you wake up, you'll see Daddy." Hearing Jonathan's voice, Ruby suddenly grasped his warm hand and murmured in her sleep, "Daddy, I miss you so much. When will you come back to see me. Mommy says you're a superhero saving the world, but I wish you could just be my superhero." Everyone around was moved by Ruby's words. 'Poor little thing. She has lacked fatherly love for five years.' Jonathan, filled with guilt, fought back his tears, stood up, and turned to the doctor. "Please do everything you can to treat my daughter. I'll cover all the expenses." The medical team nodded. The leading professor assured him, "General, please don't say that. We will certainly do everything we can to take care of your daughter." After they exchanged a few more words, Ruby was wheeled into the makeshift ICU. Her surgery would begin immediately. Jonathan took one last look at his daughter in the hospital bed, then turned and walked out. He clenched his fists. "Colonel West! Have you found out who did this to my daughter?" Next to him was the captain of the Thunderbolt Squad, Benjamin, with the rank of Brigadier General, dressed in civilian clothes. Benjamin saluted and reported, "General! We've found out. It was planned by the new aristocratic family in Yonderville, the Roberts family. This was a deliberate attempt to murder your daughter!" "Murder?! Well! The Roberts family will pay the price!" Jonathan's voice was icy and filled with killing intent. But in an instant, he calmed down and asked, "Right, and Olivia, my... wife, where is she now?" Jonathan couldn't help but think of the familiar yet distant name. It had been five years. How had she, a weak woman, managed to endure all this? Did the optimistic girl from back then hate him now? "General, Mrs. Parker was taken to the Platinum Hotel by Michael Roberts, the heir of the Roberts family." "Hotel? What's he up to?!" Jonathan grabbed the intelligence report from Benjamin's hand. The report showed that five years ago, after giving birth to Ruby, Olivia was expelled from the Harrison family. For the past five years, Olivia had been living alone with Ruby and endured hardships. Three months ago, Michael took a liking to Olivia and tried to buy her for a night. After Olivia refused, he held a grudge. Knowing Olivia had a daughter, he arranged for someone to deliberately hit Ruby to threaten her. As Jonathan read the report, anger flushed his cheeks, and his eyes were bloodshot with rage. With furrowed brows, he walked out and yelled, "Prepare the car! I need to get to that hotel as fast as possible!" But just as they stepped outside, a dozen black police cars surrounded the villa! A fully armed SWAT team encircled them. The sound of helicopter blades echoed through the sky. Two helicopters hovered and closely monitored every move inside the villa. A loud broadcast echoed through the villa. "This is the police! Hands in the air! We received a report that you are engaging in a gang fight and intentional homicide! Now, come with us for investigation!" Outside the villa, the SWAT team captain shouted through a loudspeaker. The Thunderbolt Squad had been on standby inside the villa. The colonel looked at Jonathan and asked, "General, should we prepare for combat?" Jonathan shook his head, "No, the police are part of our government system. We only kill criminals, not innocents!" With that, Jonathan walked alone toward the SWAT team. Seeing Jonathan step out, the SWAT team captain shouted again, his face stern, "Get on the ground! Hands on your head!" The SWAT team had received orders from the mayor. It was said that a criminal named Jonathan Parker had led his men to kill people in the hospital, and some had been thrown out of windows, leaving a bloody mess. The Thunderbolt Squad inside the villa were ready to take action! Jonathan wasn't wearing his uniform. They couldn't recognize him! At that moment, the sudden screech of brakes sounded from afar. Then, with a bang, Adrian Marshall, the chief of the Yonderville Police Department, kicked open his car door. He sprinted into the SWAT team and shouted at all the officers, "Stop! Now!" Adrian turned and ordered the SWAT team, "Put your guns down and get out! You idiots!" Adrian screamed hysterically, "Listen up! From now on, this area is a restricted zone! No unauthorized entry without orders!"
