Edith frowned. She then looked at him, contemplating his words deeply. It did not take long for her to realize that what he said did seem to make sense.
That could be the reason why the city was so agitated. Apparently, things would get complicated for the hunters if they could not keep the sorcerers under control.
Edith could not help but look at him intently as if trying to decipher if he was telling the truth or not.
“Did you manage to escape?” Edith asked eventually.
He nodded with a bitter smile. Tommy then approached the refrigerator. He took an ice cream and then started eating it nonchalantly.
Edith tilted her head as she tried hard to try to understand this current situation. While looking at him, she asked, “What was this all about?”
“Well, it was my spell. I can increase my body temperature, and that’s why I can increase my strength and speed. But it is complicated,” Tommy replied casually.
She looked at him with interest. Even though she did not completely understand his magic, he knew that there were different types of spells depending on the person’s affinity with it. Witches or sorcerers’ spells worked differently and uniquely.
Yes, there were spells that could be used by any witch or sorcerer, but the strength of it would differ cause of the personal capability of the caster.
Edith did not think much of it, despite her interest in Tommy’s magic. What she knew was that the hunters were taking too much trouble to keep the barrier up, yet Tommy, one of the escapees, was leisurely eating ice cream at this moment.
It also seemed that Tommy was not the only sorcerer who had escaped.
The man just finished eating the ice cream. He went closer to the window and then looked outside.
He released a heavy sigh and said, “We won’t be able to get out until they run out of fuel. it would be better if we hide.”
Edith looked at him and nodded. She said while staring at him intently, “You’re right! I have a question, boy.”
Tommy’s brows furrowed deeply. He kept his head gaze away from Edith as he replied, “What is it?”
Edith raised her hands as Tommy looked outside and calmly asked, “Do you think I’m stupid?”
“What are you talking about?” Tommy questioned as if he was offended. His eyes were wide open while looking at Edith.
“Momentum!” Edith said with a smirk. Her hands were raised, and her eyes glow black.
And with those words, a red seal appeared in front of her as she expelled the boy flying away from the pharmacy.
The young man rose through the air and traveled the entire street until crashing on the sidewalk in front. Tommy was caught off guard, resulting in the blow that left him breathless and some minor injuries.
While looking at Edith with unmasked anger, he demanded, “What the fvck is wrong with you, you damn witch!?”
Edith still felt the pain in her leg, but she stood up and firmly. She said, “Your story was very well thought out! But there is one detail.”
He stiffened. Tommy was looking at her in bewilderment when he questioned, “What story are you talking about?!”
Edith snorted and replied, “I am the servant of death. I know when a person has killed, and what has killed… you have killed many witches, haven’t you?”
Tommy got up and looked at Edith. His confusion instantly changed to amusement. He smiled before he laughed out loud.
“I thought I would fool you. That trick almost always works!” Tommy said with a grin.
“You are a good actor,” Edith commented while looking at the sorcerer with narrowed eyes. In fact, at first, she was sure if she was right, but now the confirmation was clear.
Tommy was an enemy.
Well, it was basically common sense. Could there be any escapee that would leisurely go around its capturer’s territory?
“Well, it doesn’t matter how you learned of it,” Tommy said once more. He then approached her. “I lied about many things… but the barrier was created by witches. Three, actually.”
Edith stared at him. She asked coldly, “And what feeds it?”
He, with a smile, said, magic... if you want the barrier to be destroyed, you have to stop using magic...”
Edith’s eyes widened when Tommy activated his spell.
His muscles grew a size. His body seemed to pump blood non-stop, and while his skin took on a reddish color, it began to emit smoke.
While looking at Edith with a small smile, he said, “I didn’t lie about this either.”
With those words, he pounced on Edith. His speed surprised the witch, who was not able to react in time.
Before Edith could evade, Tommy had already hit her in the mouth, causing a small cut on her lower lip.
The impact was strong, and it took her off balance completely. When Tommy jumped on her, he made her fall to the ground and, holding the witch’s arms with his leg, began to strangle her with his hands.
The sorcerer who aided the Hunters smiled with incredible satisfaction when Edith’s neck ached from his strength.
Edith gritted her teeth as she felt her neck cracking. The power of that man’s hands was very intense, and he seemed to want to break her neck.
The heat that emanated was also suffocating. And she Edith could not conjure any word to defend herself from him.
The man seemed ready to assassinate her when a very strong kick impacted the skull of that man, getting him off Edith and causing him to fall to the side of her.
This one shook as he could, and what he saw was how a shadow put Edith inside it to disappear.
