Joshua nodded and looking out the window. He then saw Seraphim. He got curious.
“What god does she serve?” He asked Edith with a smile, his gaze back at her warmly.
Edith smiled as well. She glanced at Seraphim before answering, “She serves the same god as her sister served. That is why Josephine and Seraphim are so good at fighting.”
She had known Seraphim for quite a while now. In fact, at one point, she was envious that Seraphim was good at fighting. Won’t that meant she would have a high survival rate?
That was only once. After all, Edith was never weak herself. Well, lazy, yes.
Joshua nodded when. Looking at Edith, he asked once more, “If the person who is causing all this is a witch, what god do you think it serves?”
Edith frowned at that question. There were just so many gods out there. After thinking so deeply, she couldn’t come up with an answer.
She looked at Joshua, and then finally, she shook her head. While looking at the scenery, she said, “Hopefully, the moon can answer that.”
The young people drove for several more minutes before stopping in a town, they tried to fill gasoline, but the gas station was empty. The witches just put a foot in that place.
They felt the magic charge that emanated. They could not help but look at each other with unmasked surprise.
“I don’t like this, and maybe we should go,” Eleanor said, her expression full of caution.
Edith and Seraphim shared the same look.
“There is a lot of magic reverberating in this place. Do you think it could be the man after you?” Eleanor asked with a frown.
Seraphim shook her head. They were far from the town, and unless this person could travel miles in seconds, there would be no way they could have traveled the entire distance to set up a trap in a town like it was.
Aside from that, there was no guarantee that he knew they would stop in that town or in which direction they were heading.
After placing her hand on the ground, Edith closed her eyes. She muttered a weak spell softly. When she opened her eyes, she said, “I doubt it. This seems familiar somehow. This magic is very familiar to me.”
Edith got up. Her gaze shifted towards Joshua, who was patiently waiting for them. It was probably one of the things that Edith liked about Joshua. He was not overbearing, and he let her do what she needed to do.
It was surprising for Edith since, due to her boredom, she had read these tons of werewolf books where the werewolves were all over their mate.
Well, hello? Who wants to have someone telling you what to do or being so overly cautious of you when you have your own powers?
Also, Edith knew that he has a strong urge to be lusty towards her. It was a werewolf nature. But he was so patient and disciplined that Edith approved a lot since she was not so ready to do the do.
Feeling satisfied with her mate, Edith gave him a wide smile before she said, “Let’s put this to the vote! We go and look for another town, or do we investigate what is happening?”
When he heard that, Joshua started sniffing the air, he then said, “There are no humans in this place, there is only one inhabitant, and I do not know what his species is.”
Edith looked at Eleanor, and the girl nodded.
She then joined her hands and then muttered, “Anima Testimoni!”
Just as she did, her eyes gleamed white as her body rose a few inches into the air.
After she descended, she said, “There is a house, five hundred meters away. It is there. His mind is closed, but I know he’s there.”
Edith looked at Joshua and then at Seraphim and said, someone must protect Eleanor. The other two will go see what it is.”
Seraphim looked at Joshua and said seriously, “You two should go see! If that stuff is also protected against magic, the wolf will be useful. If something attacks us, I can handle it.”
Edith nodded. “Create a mental link between the four of you that way, and we can come back if you need us!” She told Eleanor.
Eleanor agreed, thus Joshua and Edith began to advance.
They walked calmly through the streets full of gravel, and the heat was suffocating. Edith frowned. She gritted her teeth in annoyance. She had an urge to cast winter magic, but that was going to use her energy.
She looked everywhere before she said unhappily, “I miss the cold weather. This heat is unbearable!”
Joshua was warmly smiling when he looked at her. He then said, “I am thankful that I cannot turn into a wolf. You don’t want to smell like a sweaty dog.”
Edith smiled as they both reached the house at five hundred meters. While being in front of her, the main door opened directly when a tall white-haired woman and a slender figure came out, seeing her.
Edith’s eyes widened when she yelled, “Stella!”
Stella looked at her with surprise as well. Before she nodded and replied, “Edith, what are you doing here?”
When she said that, the woman looked at her back and said, “Forget it, it’s good that you are here, listen, nine kilometers from this place there is an abandoned mine, in that place, there is a damn nest of vampires, I need you to eradicate them, they have been too smart, and I can’t allow it!”
Edith straightened up and looking at her, and she asked, “Why don’t you eradicate them yourself?”
Stella looked at her with a smile and said, “Because I am too far away! My image keeps them restricted, and even so, they decimated this town. If you do me that favor, I will do something for you!”
Edith looked directly at her and, taking a deep breath, she nodded, looked at Joshua, and then said, “We will finish off the nest. But then you and I will have to talk!”
Stella smiled. She slightly bowed before she said with a smug tone, “Whatever you want, sister.”
Just as she said that the woman vanished, and the magical presence in the village disappeared. Edith looked at Joshua, who didn’t understand what was happening.
“That was a servant of death as well?” Joshua asked curiously. The magic energy coming from Stella was familiar but was also different. So he could only assume as much.
Edith nodded. She looked around her, saw how the two girls approached.
After reaching them, Seraphim asked, “So we will eliminate vampires now?”
Edith nodded with some embarrassment when the girl said, “It’s okay, Edith, we were going to save wolves anyway. Killing these vampires will be practice, isn’t it, boy!”
Saying that, Seraphim hit Joshua’s shoulder as he started to walk to the car.
At that moment, Edith looked at Joshua and said, “I know we are in a hurry, but if we help her, maybe she will help us in the future.”
Joshua nodded. He was curious about the vampire nest, and perhaps in that place, he could find a way to deal with his own problem.
Going back to the car, they all prepared to go to the mine that Stella spoke of when Edith looked apprehensively towards the house where Stella had come from.
She curiously began to walk in that direction and as she entered, what she saw was creepy.
A witch was impaled in that place, a bonfire had consumed her, overstepping the line, Stella had said, that was what she meant, they stopped attacking humans, and now they were attacking witches, this was not possible, wolf hunters and now vampires someone was trying to control the natural order, and that person was still in the shadows.
Everything indicated that Stella could not find it either. The search became more and more problematic, and now a new danger lurked. Edith took a deep breath, thinking how vampires could kill a witch, and with that idea, she returned with her group to prepare for her mission.
