The morning came quickly, and with it, the rays of the sun illuminated the forest. Edith woke up rested as if she had slept in her own bed, and when she opened her eyes, she looked at how Joshua was watching her with a smile.
“You did not sleep?” She asked with a frown.
Joshua shook his head before replying, “No! I stayed alert. We are no longer in your cabin!”
The young woman smiled and, breathing freely, she looked at the forest and then at the human who was still in the dream spell. When she saw him, she said, “We must take care of him. We must find out what the break is and how they got here.”
Joshua calmly walked over and, taking the man, said, “We must also find a place to hide. The nights in the open will not help us.”
Looking at Joshua, she felt and taking a deep breath, and she said, “We will have to get out of the forest! First, we will find the gap where these humans entered, and then we will close it ourselves to buy some time to decide the next move.”
Edith smiled when Joshua took the human and the huge chest without the slightest difficulty.
“You are incredibly strong!” She praised with wide eyes.
He grinned at her, greatly pleased. Joshua replied, “This is only the average strength of any werewolf. We are a race of warrior beasts.”
She smiled, and they both got into it, calmly and using her magic. She managed to quickly identify the gap through which the humans had entered, it was a common gap, but something was not right at all.
Seeing her worried face, Joshua asked, “What’s going on?”
Edith looked at the magic gap. For the normal eye, it was just an ordinary space in the forest. Still, she could see how reality cracked in that precise space, but it was not one of the common gaps that appeared in the field that separated the forest of the human world.
Instead, it seemed to have been manufactured by an external hand.
She thought that a creature apart from another servant of death could achieve that feat, but she did not find a clear answer in her mind.
Looking at the gap carefully, she was bitterly smiling when she said, “I’m in trouble. The more I find out what happens, the more I realize that the one who is destroying the balance is a powerful creature!”
Joshua looked at her calmly and approaching the place where she was sniffing the whole site.
Edith opened her eyes, understanding what the werewolf was trying to do, and smiling. She said, “Brilliant if you can capture its essence, you will know what creature it is!”
“I am sorry,” Joshua said, disappointed, “I can only catch the human trail. There is no other creature through these gaps.”
Edith nodded, clearly confused, a creature that could erase your existence and could also hide its trace from the smell of a werewolf. Whoever it was, was powerful and finding it would be highly complicated, clarifying her ideas.
Edith looked at Joshua firmly and said, “We can’t do this anymore! We will leave the forest and try to find information about who is attacking us… Do you agree? “
Joshua nodded as he looked at the forest around him. Getting away from that place was complicated. He had always been inside it, he didn’t really know what he could wait outside, but he knew that Edith would be with him.
“Let’s do it! Let’s find the bastard chasing you!” Edith said after taking a deep breath.
His eyes were full of melancholy, and when Edith looked at them, she said compassionately.
“As soon as we deal with that creature, I promise I’ll help you get your pack back!”
Joshua smiled, and they both walked through the opening and left the forest behind. When crossing the gap, the weather changed, it was much warmer, and Joshua looking around him, could tell the difference.
They were still inside a forest, but there was a different tension, thousands of aromas mixed between all the people who had passed through that place, and that feeling overwhelmed him for a second.
He, in moments, could feel the extent of the world. He was still in the forest. He knew that the people were considerably far away. Still, the number of people who inhabited the nearest city exceeded the number of people in the forest by millions.
So many presences and so many essences were drawn in his mind. Being a werewolf, his senses were highly developed. The impact of that world he had entered attacked him with total speed.
His body swayed, and unable to stand, he fell to the ground only to see Edith approaching him, looking at him, put her hand on his face, and Joshua, breathing with difficulty.
“I am sorry! I had never smelled so many scents at the same time,” Joshua confessed with a helpless smile.
She smiled, and he stood up, looking in the direction of the city, he still couldn’t see it, but he could easily distinguish the direction where it would be.
He looked at Edith with a smile and a strange sense of adventure that he, on many occasions he tried to ignore, began to beat in the heart of the Wolf.
“I want to see that place with so many people!” He said while looking at her intently.
Joshua smiled, and Edith, looking at him, turned towards the gap. Putting her hands as her gaze darkened, she took the edge of that huge sphere that divided the dimensions.
With a powerful sigh, she closed the gap keeping the separation of both worlds clear.
“We will keep the rest of the creatures locked up so they won’t follow us,” Edith said, smiling while nodding.
“That’s a good idea!” Joshua said.
They both looked at the human, and Edith approaching him eliminated the spell. The human would continue to sleep for a while, but he would wake up and could return home in a matter of hours. It was a cruel fate what had happened to him, but even, so his family had suffered worse luck.
Edith felt some compassion for him, but she could not correct what had happened. At that moment, highly more important things were happening. Joshua took the huge chest and the books.
“Not! This time you don’t have to carry it. We must travel unnoticed!” Edith said while smiling mysteriously.
She then raised her hand, magic gathered around her, before she uttered, “Tergum Ut Initium!”
And with her eye completely black, they both disappeared from the forest space, appearing in seconds in a spacious apartment with windows that showed an enormous amount of light.
