XXVII: Gift

Seraphim saw her and, taking a deep breath, took two steps forward when she said, “I’ll take care of it!” As soon as she said that, she took off her jacket and, looking at the Vampire, she said, “Incredibili Robore!” Her eyes shone, and the muscles of her body grew two sizes instantly. With incredible speed, Seraphim shot out in the direction of the Vampire, and when he saw her, he prepared to receive her, but the speed with which the young woman moved surprised him, and the impact directly in his face made the Vampire’s jaw snap. “Swallow that damn bloodsucker!” The young woman said before looking at Joshua. Joshua immediately turned into a wolf, shot out, and, using his claws, pierced the Vampire’s neck to move his hands with full power and sever the head of that creature. When he landed, he was a man again, and the Vampire was vaporizing. When she saw Seraphim, the girl returned to her normal state, and when she saw him, she asked, “Do your companions know where we are?” Joshua, who still had dirt and blood spatter on his body, replied, “Yes, I’m sorry! That Vampire was very strong... I hadn’t seen one like that in a long time!” He admitted that fact, despite not wanting to. “It’s human blood!” Edith said she was lying on the ground from exhaustion. She then added as she stood up, “They are much stronger by human blood, and if they all have that anti-magic mark, defeating them will be very difficult.” Seraphim looked at Joshua for a long minute and calmly said, “First, we have to move from this place. The wolves will surely come on their way. Second, we have to do something with you. If you cannot transform into a werewolf, we have to make you stronger in some way.” When he saw her, the werewolf took a deep breath and nodded. They all walked to the truck when Edith, next to Joshua, said, “I’m very sorry about what happened!” Joshua hugged her. He breathed hard on her scent before speaking, “You couldn’t know that he had that mark.” The werewolf smiled at her, but Edith calmly showed a determination that Joshua had not seen until now when she said, “Do not worry. It will not happen again!” Edith was not saying that only to assure Joshua. It was a promise that she has in herself. That night they moved and hoping that it was daylight, they began to develop a plan to destroy the nest. Soon a great battle would appear in front of them. Joshua slept, in his dreams, he was watching his father be killed, and when he woke up, he was bathed in sweat, a werewolf did not have to sleep too long, but for him, those few hours in which he had to rest were a martyrdom. His breathing was agitated, and his body, full of sweat, got out of the truck. The morning sun bathed him when he watched the three witches surround a bonfire.  As he approached, he asked, “I thought witches weren’t fans of the bonfire!” Edith turned to see him with a smile, and calmly she said, “Bonfires are great places to do magic. That’s why they use them to kill us... can you see the hypocrisy in fact?” Joshua nodded, and as he approached, something strange caught his attention. In the bonfire, a metal bar appeared. It had a black color, but it was clearly made of a strange metal. Several runes seemed painted on its surface when Seraphim, with his typical irritated tone, said, “Stretch out your hand, Wolf!” He looked at her with some fear when Edith nodded calmly, trusting in Edith, he reached out for Seraphim with an incandescent bar to burn a Rune on his skin, Joshua was so used to the pain that the burn did not cause him even a cry and when he looks at his forearm a rune prevailed. At that moment, a strange sensation drew him towards the bar at stake. Edith, with a smile, and said, “Take it….” Joshua did not understand what she was referring to but stretching out his hand, and he took the bar that, despite being on fire, was not hot, and when he lifted it, he saw what it was. When the perfectly cylindrical bar touched his hand, he felt the rune on his arms glow, and it took shape. A brilliant silver color surrounded it as the runes on its surface faded to black color. At the tip was a large blade, while at the other end was a small solid metal ball. What Joshua had in his hand was a magic spear. When he saw it, he looked at the smiling witches, who just nodded. Edith said when she saw his face in confusion, “The confrontation with the vampire clarified a situation for us.” When she said that Joshua paid more attention, “When we meet an enemy with the anti-magic seal, we count on you to defeat him, but you cannot use all your strength, or your pack would attack us. That is why we thought of giving you something to help you fight even without all your strength. You can consider it as a gift for doing a good job so far,” Edith said with a grin. Joshua looked at the spear in his hand and smilingly looked at Edith to ask, “Why a spear?” Edith, smiling, said, “I was in your memory. I know you can use it! “ As he took it, he began to rotate it with speed around his body, its weight was perfect, and when he took it, he looked at her and said, “It feels great!” Seraphim walked up to him and started to said, “Of course, it’s great. I made it! It has a resistance rune, so it’s almost unbreakable. It has a regeneration rune. If it breaks, it will only need a little blood from the wearer to repair itself. These two helped too,” Eleanor walked up to him and said, “I added a visibility rune. With closing your eyes, you can see the place where it is and its surroundings.” Edith, smiling, said, “I added a piece rune to it. Anything you cut with the tip will not heal as long as the spearits close and add the rune of death. The creature does not matter what creature if you kill it with the spear, and it remains dead.” Joshua looked at the spear with longing and calmly hugged Edith. That gesture meant a lot to him. He did not want to accept it, but the defeat suffered against the Vampire was complicated, and becoming a wolf means being in contact with his pack and feel the feelings they had for him. Seraphim came over and said, “It also has a rune of attraction if you wish the spear will return to you, but be careful the power is just as strong in both directions.” Joshua heard this, and with the power, he threw the spear as far as he could, and then, using the rune of attraction, it returned to him. While looking at Seraphim, he said, “This is incredible! Thank you very much. You didn’t have to do it for me.” Seraphim shyly turned around and said, “One, a useless wolf is of no good to me. Two Edith asked me. And finally, it is not free, and you have to help us end the person responsible for my sister’s death.” Joshua nodded and calmly said, “I will do that. You can be sure of that.” Seraphim walked over to the bonfire and calmly said, “The rune on your arm is the only way to use the spear. Otherwise, it would be too heavy to lift.” Joshua nodded and, looking at Edith, said, “This is great! Let’s prove it by killing vampires.” Edith smiled when he said that and nodded. Everyone got in the Van and headed for the nest. Finding them was not difficult. They were right in the place that the other servant of death had said. Looking at the entrance to the mine Edith Seraphim and Joshua were preparing to enter. Eleanor, behind her, said, “It is impossible to know how big that mine is and how many creatures there are, but I can assure you that there are more than 20 vampires in that place.” They all prepared to enter when Eleanor was climbing on the roof of the Van. She closed her eyes and meditated. She made a mental link between the four of them. “Now we can all hear each other. I will send a projection of my own to make an approximate route... guys, be very careful.” Everyone calmly advanced when Seraphim looking at Edith, said, “If they have anti-magic marks ... will you be okay?” Edith smiled and calmly nodded, entering the three of them together into the cave they entered the darkness. Joshua could see perfectly one of the advantages of being a lycanthrope when next to him, Seraphim calmly said, “PugiliIgnis!”
