The goddess of the moon lay on the ground looking at the sky. Joshua was also doing the same as he listened to her intently. The situation was quite ironic, as the moon was in the land, not in the sky where she was supposed to be. That only meant the situation was really serious.
“Now they want to eliminate humanity, the creation of the old gods because you have become troublesome… Many demigods heard this and tried to protest and were banished, destined to be destroyed. And a god like me who doesn’t want that to happen, well, we must shut up, or we can face the same fate!” She continued with unmasked reluctance as if she was feeling helpless for not being able to do anything about it.
Joshua was surprised when he heard the helplessness in the goddess voice. If a god-like her could not do anything, what more someone like him?
Just thinking about the worst-case scenario, Joshua felt terrified, and this was evident in his expression when he asked carefully, “So, are we lost?”
The goddess of the moon looked at him and reached out to touch his face. She then smiled and replied, “I thought so, but then I saw you and your friends, Edith and the rest, you have been fighting hard, and the way you evolve is extraordinary. Those relationships they form are fundamental, and I told myself. If the ancient gods created them with that capacity for evolution, it is because they wanted this to happen.”
Joshua was confused but remained quiet as he waited for her to continue. He was baffled.
“That gave me an idea. If the ancient gods were awake, you might have a chance. They would protect you,” she excitedly said, eyes were gleaming brightly.
Joshua was silent for a while. He was thinking about everything that goddess of the moon had said. He has a thoughtful expression on his face as he contemplates everything. The goddess of the moon let him be and just waited for him.
Joshua then released a sigh before he got up. He looked at her and replied, “What you said is great, but how will we awaken the ancient gods?”
Another thing that was confusing was that if there was this possibility, why was it the goddess of the moon not doing it herself with the other gods?
A part of Joshua felt suspicious, but he would never question the goddess that their kind was serving.
The moon goddess shrugged and said, “I do not know! But the answer is on the ground! Now, they do not have much time, the gods are preparing their armies, they do not want to go for you personally, to touch the earth is to touch mortality, there are several things down there that can kill a god, but when the army is ready, and they fear not, your open time is over.”
Joshua looked at the goddess with unmasked concern and question, “How much time do we have?”
She shook her head before sighing heavily and answered, “That I do not know! But what if I know! It is that you need to hurry, you met Dominic, he is a demigod, he was the first to protest, everyone wants him dead, it is not a certainty, but perhaps he may know something about the ancient gods and how to stop extinction.”
Joshua saw her and calmly thanked her.
She touched his forehead and marked him and said gravely, “You will be my witness, I protest to help you in any way I can, but my son, you must hurry. This is very dangerous, and if you do not hurry, things will only get worse.”
As Joshua ascended, the goddess of the moon added, “Your girlfriend! Edith! Tell her that her god is not who she believes. She must be careful, more than anyone, because before this destruction begins, she will be in danger like no one has ever been.”
Joshua frowned when he heard this but still nodded reluctantly.
“Remember, there is no time to waste!” The goddess of the moon added.
When he said that, and in a blink, he disappeared.
Cecil moved again and looked in every direction and asked in anticipation, “I am already the witness of the moon!?”
To which Joshua transformed to everything he gave and, piercing his chest, said, “No! You are not!”
Cecil did not expect that resolution, and moving back, he spread his wings and began to fly away, Joshua wanted to chase him, but Edith was in trouble.
He could smell her, all the things he had discovered now he would have to tell her because the danger was far from over.
Nate had Edith in his arms and ran at full speed, and his new senses could easily tell him how far away the enemy was. He had managed to buy some time while with Edith in his arms, the half-vampire asked, “Are you okay?”
Edith was still shocked. Her attack had fully hit, but the truth was that this creature refused to die. It was powerful and could change her forms, and while she was thinking about that, she replied, “I’m fine, but he’s invincible. We won’t be able to assassinate him!”
Nate stopped and put Edith on the ground, and he had won several minutes while the enemy advanced and saw Edith say, “What are you talking about? You are a servant of death. Killing things is your specialty!”
Edith looked at him and, lowering her head, could not find a way to explain the situation, Nate seeing her heard how her enemy approached and calmly said, “Listen, everything is fine! Just go, go to the altar’s room and talk to the god you have to talk to. You must find a way to kill him.”
Edith was not sure if that was possible, but Nate’s determination was enormous, and she did not want to waste it. She was running at full speed. She got away from her, and Nate turned and looked towards the road wherein minutes, her enemy appeared.
He was in a dining room, a huge bar at the side of the room with a door leading to a kitchen, and several tables lined up in parallel ways showed him a central hallway through which he walked, the door in front of him was double and closed. But he was sure that that door could not contain that creature.
In his mind, the words of Edith cannot be killed echoed, never in his long life had he found something like that, that’s why it was hard for him to believe, he was sure that if she tried hard, he could kill him.
From his shadow, he raised a Javelin. His new powers adapted well to his gifts.
Although he was sure that this new state was temporary, Seraphim’s blood was still in his mouth, and he calmly closed his eyes to feel her presence, but he could not do it. That distracted him a bit when he said, “Eleonor, where is Seraphim?!”
Eleonor was about to answer when the door in front of him burst open, the two doors swung open, and they shot into the room as a long-haired man entered through them.
His white shirt had a hole in the middle from the attack by Edith, but he did not seem hurt.
His black pants and his bare feet gave him a rough air to a rather sharp face. With a smile, he said, “Where is the coward Edith? I command you to die for her?”
