I wake up to the sound of arguments coming from the kitchen, the clock on the wall displayed half past ten in the morning. My body ached and felt sore form sleeping on the couch, there was still a dull pain in my chest from the events that took place last night.
I groggily head towards the kitchen wondering what made Mrs. Dale yell like that.
“Aren’t you just a maid? Why can’t you follow orders like you’re supposed to? Don’t you know you’re talking to the future Luna of this pack?! When I say I don't like eggs for breakfast YOU remake the whole thing”
This demonic screeching belongs to the woman Gayle brought home last night. She is a woman with bouncy brown hair in a bob cut, curvy figure and black eyes.
“As I mentioned before Miss, the menu is always decided by LUNA Irving and includes everything Alpha Gayle likes. So no, I can’t redo everything just because you say so.” Mrs. Dale who seemed like she was about to hit that woman with a rolling pin tried to keep her professional smile intact.
“Ugh you insolent witch I tell you-”
“What’s going on?” I interject before that woman could utter any more detrimental words to Mrs. Dale.
The woman with brown hair turned towards me and scrutinized me from head to toe before breaking into a scornful smile.
“Ah, where are my manners? I am Nina Sanders. I never got a chance to introduce myself yesterday, Alpha Gayle gets so impatient when it comes to s*x” She giggled maliciously. Mrs. Dale already fuming, stealthily grabbed a rolling pin off the kitchen counter.
“Why are you still here?” I ask since I didn’t have the energy to deal with another one of Gayle’s bed partners.
At my question Nina’s expression twisted into one of anger and disdain.
“On what grounds do you dare to ask me such a question? An Omega b***h who barely managed to seduce Alpha Gayle. Tell me, are you unable to satisfy him in bed or is it that...” She drawled out mockingly as she came closer to me "Or is it that he hasn't even touched you yet? If that's the case, then why don't you step back and let me fill in the position of Luna, it belonged to me anyway"
“And also" Nina continued "If there’s anyone who shouldn't be here” Nina jeered as she pointed at me “It’s you!”
“You’re going too far, if you wish to be Luna so bad then why don’t you get Gayle to reject me huh?” I am already tired of everyone targeting me, I don’t want to care anymore.
Hearing my words Nina froze for a moment before adjusting her expression and gently smiling at me. Her sudden change in countenance made me feel goosebumps all over my body.
“My, aren't you a poor little thing. For the last four years you yearned for your mate's affection, going as far as to lay down your self respect and humbling yourself for him, hoping for the day when your love would finally became mutual… but guess what?” Nina stepped closer to me as I felt a bad premonition rise in my heart. “Even if you kill yourself right now, Gayle. Wouldn’t. Care. Want me to prove it?”
Without giving me any time to respond, Nina grabbed the scalding hot cup of coffee from the dining table and poured it all over herself before smashing the cup onto the ground, she then fell down beside it and started screaming on top of her lungs.
Dread emerged in me as I realized exactly what was going to happen. My mate’s scent reached me before his presence did. Gayle took in the scene infront of him before looking at me with obvious accusation in his eyes.
Ah he has already decided that I’m the culprit. Though I knew it, his gaze still scraped at the bottom of my heart
“Gayle this…”
“Alpha Gayle! Luna Irving did nothing wrong, please don’t punish him!” Nina didn’t even give me a chance to speak before she started sobbing loudly, her crocodile tears dripping like pearls. “He was probably agitated seeing me with you last night. After all, Luna already made it clear that you aren't straight and will definitely not be with me, I’m sorry Alpha Gayle I love you so much that I didn’t care if you were into men”
It didn’t need a detective for everyone in the pack to know that what Gayle hated the most was being called gay. Nina knew full well, that a temporary fling like her getting hurt wouldn’t illicit much of a response from Gayle but if he were called gay… Gayle would unleash his ire on me.
“Gayle I said no such thing, she’s lying-”
Slap. I stumbled from the force of his strength, already feeling my left cheek swelling.
“You tend to forget your place if not kept in check Omega." Gayle’s cold blue eyes bore into mine as he wiped his hand on a handkerchief as if he touched something dirty.
“You have no say in who I date or who I choose to f**k. Just because my parents favor you, do you think you have the right to control me? Going as far as saying I’m gay, you must be tired of living”
I don't understand why I'm being treated like this, it’s not like there aren’t any other Omegas in our pack, though disregarded, they are still treated a thousand times better than me.
I hate it, If only I weren’t an Omega! Anger boiled within me as I refused to stay quiet.
“Did you hear it?”
“What-”
“Did you hear me saying what she claims I said? Or did you see me splashing tea on her? Is that how your superior Alpha brain gives justice cause I think you suck at-”
Another slap on my right cheek. My lips were cut by the impact and blood trickled down my chin. “Looking at how you’re talking to your Alpha, I can’t bring myself to doubt Nina’s words.”
“Alpha Gayle please stop! Luna Irving isn’t lying. Miss Nina did all of this to herself then wrongly blamed Luna for her actions.”
Mrs. Dale rushed to support me, pleading on my behalf.
I stood there numb to everything around me. Being misunderstood doesn’t hurt much, but when the people who you hold dear don’t believe you, your emotions go haywire.
Despite my vehement protests, he still chose to believe his new f**k buddy over the mate he spent the last four years with.
Splashing tea on your mate’s new partner. Is that something a werewolf would do? If I desired it I could’ve ripped off her face with my claws. What kind of ridiculous soap opera script is this woman enacting?
And yet, only Gayle could fall for such a stupid ploy.
When Nina and my eyes met, she smirked suggestively in my direction.
No… she knew exactly how flawed her scheme was, she just wanted to prove that even in such a lousy framing act, Gayle would never take my side.
“Of course you will speak for Luna Mrs. Dale, you … you must be very scared right…” Nina’s gaze full of sympathy first flitted towards Mrs. Dale then turned in my direction as if implying something.
Chills crept up my back as I realized what her ambiguous words meant. She was implying that I was threatening Mrs. Dale.
Reaching the same conclusion, Gayle’s face visibly darkened.
“Regardless if she’s frightened or not, my house does not accommodate liars. Mrs. Dale I didn’t expect you to cover for this Omega, I’m disappointed that you don’t know the difference between right and wrong.”
“But Alpha I’m speaking the truth-”
“Silence! Since you refuse to acknowledge your mistake” Gayle interrupted, “Then you might as well pack up your things and leave. You’re fired Mrs. Dale.”
I couldn’t believe what he was saying. Has he gotten bored of his usual methods of torment so he came up with a new one?
Mrs. Dale was like a mother to me. Being an Omega herself she knew my struggles and helped me accordingly. Gayle was fully aware of this. Is this revenge? Punishment for going against him?
“How can you ask her to leave? Are you seriously rebuking her for telling the truth?!”. My voice trembled as I questioned Gayle.
“I choose to believe Nina rather than putting my trust in someone like you”
Someone like me? I staggered back at his words. He yet again chose to prioritize someone else over me. My heart felt empty. I don’t think I can go on any longer.
“Fine. If Mrs. Dale leaves this house, then I am going with her.”
