Chapter 14

Skai's POV

I debated for a few days whether I should go through with this suicide plan of mine. I knew Tate would kill me, Jax told me about what had happened with the two Alphas last year. I heard rumors of how he was on the verge of becoming feral due to the loss of his mate. I felt sad for him, Akira whimpered as well.

No, he sent men to kill Henly. He deserved to die with me and he will as soon as I make it to his pack.

I crossed his territory and stopped the bike and waited. I knew his men were close, I could smell them. I tried to reel my Alpha aura in so they wouldn't smell how powerful I was, I needed to play the innocent act for this plan to work.

Growls echoed all around me, I was surrounded.

 Then the smell hit me. No not this again, how could he be here now. He was going to ruin everything, again. Wait that isn't Hakans smell, he smells like burning pine and marshmellows, this smell was like the forest floor mixed with this sweet maple scent. This was someone else. Another mate? Goddess why must you punish me?! But Hakans rejection was incomplete, which means this isn't a second chance mate, which could only mean I have 2 mates. Two too many if you ask me. Another rejection is going to hurt and my body is weak and skinny. I've become bones, I was disgusted to look at myself but I had no money to eat these last 2 weeks and honestly wouldn't waste it on food anyways. I wanted to die, this just made it easier. 

He stood in front of me wide eyed. He was handsome. He was as tall as Hakan and as tan but he had medium brown hair that was shaggy and tucked behind his ears and these deep green eyes. He was an earth shifter, I smelled it. Alpha Tate was my other mate. 

Why Goddess?! I didn't want one mate let alone 2. No Tate had men kill Hen, this would be a quick rejection. Screw trading myself for Jax safety he would be fine, this became personal. What sick game is the Goddess trying to play. 

"Mate?" He whispered before looking over my body with sadness in his eyes.

"I, Skai..." I tried to speak quickly but not quick enough. 

"Wait, no you're dead?" He said taking a step back. "My men said they killed you." He looked confused. 

Henly told them she was me. Sneaky little wolf, she knew she would die, but why? Did she know all along what the Goddess had up her sleeve? I needed answers from her. 

"Reject you Tate as............" Everything got blurry, my body couldn't handle it anymore. I started vomiting and then felt this wetness drip down my legs. I looked down and saw this blurry red line drip down my legs, soaking my bike seat and dripping onto the road. Whats happening? I began to fall over with the bike when arms caught me. Everything went black.

'It was a baby you weren't destined to have, I am sorry.' Selene the Goddess said as we sat at the edge of the water.

'Why two mates?' I asked. 

I've been here for a day now, while my body recovers, Selenes been explaining everything.

'You three are the last of your kind, once Hakan killed Tates original mate, who was also an earth shifter, it was decided by Fate and I that it should be his punishment to share his mate, you.'

'But I don't want either of them.'

'That may be, Little Bird, but you need them. Another is coming for you and with an army too powerful for one Alpha to handle.' 

'I didn't know I was pregnant.. I should've known.' I felt like I failed.

'I made sure you didn't know, that child was not apart of our plan. The man who did this to you was never supposed to get this far. You were meant to stop him.' She looked across the lake. 'You are destined to two other gifted shifters for a reason, another mans baby would have gotten in the way of fate.'

She showed no remorse for taking my child, mine. Regardless of how it was created it was my child. 

'When can I go back?' I asked. I wasn't eager but she explained that I was sent to fix both men. I was a tool in their game and lost a child because they didn't think it would be useful. She explained Henlys reasons for leaving was because she was asked too by the Goddess, promising her a mate on the other side. Everything was planned out for a reason. I understood now and would no longer fight her or fate as it was useless. I would be a good little breeding dog like she wanted and go back to the two men. That's all I was to them, sent to fix their broken souls and to bare their children so that our race of gifted shifters didn't die out. 

I wanted to vomit thinking about it all. I wanted the love my parents had.

'You'll have that and more if you just try, Skai.' Selene said. 'You can go back now, but if you reject one of them that means you lose the bond to both. You're all three linked now, all three are mated together. I won't grant you another life, the last 2 were a gift from each my sister and myself, we have no more to spare so try and be careful.'

I opened my eyes and looked around the room before landing them on Tate. His eyes were red and swollen, he's been crying. Akira whimpered at the sight. He must've felt me staring and looked up making eye contact. He got up and made his way to my bedside before grabbing my hand in his and kissing my knuckles. 

"You're awake, how do you feel? Can I get you anything? Are you in pain?" His questions were filled with desperation. 

"Water?" My throat was dry and sore.

He grabbed a jug from the table and poured me a glass and stuck a straw in it. He lowered it to my lips and held it there as I drank. 

He helped me sit up and we spent the next few hours talking about everything like Selene and Hakan and he even apologized for Henly. He was sincere with his apologies and even apologized about the baby, not how it was created but how I lost it. He was so sweet to me about everything, different from Hakan. He was mad about the three of us being mated together, he explained what happened with his other mate. He didn't know her but his wolf was broken, until I came along. 

I felt like I could be loved by this beautiful man, actually loved. He said he'd reach out to Hakans pack as soon as I felt better so they could all discuss what happens next. He wasn't happy about what he did, but understood that I couldn't reject him. 

We were interrupted by a woman rushing in the room.

"Alpha, River Ash men were spotted at the border, there is a whole army of them here."

"I'll be right there, send men to stand outside my mates door." Tate said before standing up.

"No I wan't to go with you. I need to explain it to him. He won't listen to you alone." I pleaded.

He nodded and looked at the woman next to him.

"Hannah, help the Luna up and dressed, I'll be outside the door." With that he left.

I hope he listens, he'll start a war over nothing. They weren't enemies anymore, they were mated through me and it'll kill us all if they kill each other.
