Saved by the bell!
Thanks to Madison’s tummy troubles, I’d escaped the dreaded question Cohen had asked me about her father. “That ice cream has gotten to you, huh?”
“Yeah. I’ll be okay once I go potty.” She held my hand, looking up at me. “I’m glad you came to the pool to watch me, Momma.”
Just as I reached out to open the door to leave the pool area, a hand came from behind me, beating me to it. “Allow me, ladies.” It seemed that Cohen had caught up to us. His body behind mine made my knees turn weak, especially when he made sure to graze me a bit.
“Thanks,” Madison said. “And thanks for watching me while I swam. Sorry about trying to go to the deep end, Cohen.”
