Chapter Fifteen Cohen Tossing a skeeball up the long ramp, I made it right into the middle hole. “Thirty points!” “Lucky,” Madison said as she tossed hers, getting it into the ten-point hole. “Way to go!” I gave her a high-five as the tickets we’d won poured out of our machines. “We’re gonna get tons of prizes.” “We sure are.” She looked around to find what she wanted to play next. “Mom’s waving at us. The pizza’s on the table. We better go eat.” She took off, running like a cat through a jungle, dodging other kids and adults with no effort whatsoever. I watched Ember as she placed slices of pizza on plates for us. A pitcher of beer sat on the table too — which I found promising. Maybe she’s ready to chill out and accept the inevitable. Ember had picked out a booth for us to sit in
