Chapter Eighteen Ember Sleep evaded me the entire night as I sat up, worrying that Cohen might burst into the room. He had said that he wouldn’t let me go without a fight this time, and I believed him. I packed our things while Madison slept soundly, wanting to be ready to leave as soon as she woke up. But when five a.m. rolled around, and she hadn’t even stirred a little, I began making some noises so she’d wake up.
