Chapter Twenty Ember The two-hour drive to work gave me time to think. And I found that wasn’t a good thing. Thinking only gave my conscience time to chew me out for being so dishonest with everyone I cared about. But it had more to torment me about, not only that. Getting between my daughter and her father seemed to be an even bigger sin — at least in my heart.
