"Why do I have to tell you?"
Covering her painful cheek, Emma Eddie was glaring furiously at me, if it was possible, she would have hung me up and furiously beat me
However, when I pointed at the direction of the bat, Emma Eddie followed the direction and saw the person hung to death in front of the sign, het eyes widened and the grudgeful thoughts in her mind flew away, leaving behind fear
Despite living in the streets, Emma Eddie at most committed some petty thefts to keep her alive. She did hear about matters regarding dead people but when she saw it with her own eyes and the dead person was related to her, it was the first time in her life.
"This is why you have to tell me" I said to her
Emma Eddie kept quiet as she squatted down to the ground, trembling in fear
"Belyme, keeping quiet does you no good, tell me what the Deceiver's Note is and I'll be more happy to help you from this situation for the time you saved me. I already got some hints from what you said before and it won't take me too long to find out the following clues and hints. Come on, your situation is pretty bad now
I picked her up as I spoke. At the next moment, the concrete floor where she squatted down before was shot ruins by bullets
If Emma Eddie was still squating there, she would be shot in half by the high caliber rifle g*n; Emma Eddie wasn't an i***t, she knew that.
"I'll tell you but you need to protect me, the Deceiver's Note is a Scroll""
"The Deceiver's Note is a Scroll from the magic era thousands of years ago!
It was a magician who cultivated his spirit to immortality at wrote some words in a scroll from his disciples too to cultivate to immortality but as long the magic era ends, the Deceiver's Note vanished as well"
"Is that the information you have and your life is being after?"
"No. It was rumored that the Deceiver's Note reappeared at the underground market and was found by those folks, b****y Bridge. They didn't just want to sell it off for a huge amount of money, they wanted to double cross their buyers as well. The receiver that Beryl introduced me to was one of them, he did offer a question at quite a high price, it seems like they are determined to get it done!"
After Emma Eddie explained, she couldn't even pause and continue asking "Now, what should we do? I know a decent hiding spot, ic we get there, we should be safe from the killers now"
"Are you sure your hiding spot is really safe?"
Emma Eddie cannot do but doubt the safety of her hiding place when I question her.
Her hiding place should be safe most of the time but now? In a desperate time like this?
Emma Eddie took another glance at Beryl who was hung to death further away, she eventually shook her head
"So…what are we doing?"
"Since there is nothing we can do about to defend ourselves against them, then we use the saying 'attack is the best defense"
"Do you mean you are attacking them?"
"Yeah, I will devise a way to kill them one by one if we can't take them head on. You'll still be needed, tell me more about b****y Ridges"
I said as I saw the police cruisers walking towards the scene, the gunshots must have called the attention of many. I walked up to the police and I was taken to the police station
…
"Levin, few months ago you are seen among the super villains that killed fifty humans in the community, you disregarded your identity and your loyalty to your cult group when you protected the Commissioner of Police, paving way for him to pass during the killing spree, after that, you turn yourself in to the police but you were bailed by some strange people and then the cops found your corpse in an alley, At least 5 times things like that has happened. But here you are, your house was blown earlier, ain't it?"
The captain; Paul said they me who is sitting in a chair before him in a cold tone
Paul didn't really hate me but he hated those people that are arrested but we're able to escape the law because of their lawyers, making the police's efforts look useless
If it was possible, Paul didn't mind killing them instead of them going to court
After all, in the captain's point of view, these kind of people do go out of prison oy to boast the non effectiveness of the law to citizens, breading criminals
"Captain, I'm here to report the case of my house being bombed by someone"
I restated the reason I'm at the station
"Yeah, I know. But can you tell me under what circumstances that while your house was being blown to hell, you are still alive wandering around Scorching Fire Bar? Do you know anything about the death of the man that was hanged?"
The Captain was speaking fast but his intonation was clear and precise
His way of questioning unconsciously added a pressuring manner on him and a common man would be frightened instinctively but not me or any other super human, maybe super as I stared at the captain with a calm gaze
I have worked with the guild administrators when are more strict that the his captain so I know how to handle the situation before me
"I was there chasing the person that blew up my house, and I have nothing to do with the hanging of a man! And don't forget, I'm a citizen trying to save this city from super villains and other cult groups not some criminal to be interrogated"
I emphasized those words in a very slow tone and heightened pitch
My voice instantly attracted gazes from the people around and based on the camera on their chest and notepads in their hands, taking down notes rapidly , their identity was obvious; Reporters
In this city where only supervillains exist,, the price of explosive news was enough to attract the reporters' attention especially when a casualty is involved
