Gabriel’s POV
The first thing I felt when I woke up was pain shooting down my arm. The sharp, burning pain made my whole body feel heavy. My shoulder throbbed like someone had dropped a whole car on it. I lay still, staring at the white ceiling, trying to understand why everything hurt so much.
Then it all came back to me. I saved the mysterious rider from people who wanted to kill her. I let out a quiet groan. That was stupid. But I didn’t regret slowing down. I don't regret pushing that i***t’s weapon aside. I don't regret protecting her. I would do it again.
