Carlota’s POV
School ended, and I was already packing my bag, ready to head straight to the hospital. My mind had been on Gabriel since last night. I could barely focus in class. I pulled out my last book, and that was when I saw something strange.
A small gift box inside my drawer. I froze for a second. I thought maybe someone put it there by mistake. But it was sitting right in the middle, like it was there the entire time, waiting for me.
I looked around the classroom slowly. Everyone else was already gone, except for two girls chatting in the far corner. They didn’t even glance my way. No one looked suspicious, and no one was watching me.
