The uncomfortable change

1114 Words
The Doctor began his strange plan about moving her mum to a different hospital. Karla wasn’t surprised since she knew whose plan it was, but her mother was frantic about it. “This is absurd! Where do we get the money to pay for the moving?!” Her mum argued. “Karla, do you know about this?” her mother questioned her as she closed the luggage box. “This makes no sense, Karla!” “Mum, trust the process…please ” Karla pleaded. “I trust the doctors here. Don’t move me, please. They have helped me for a very long time. Since the day I was diagnosed…” “And that’s when?” Karla asked sharply. “Why won’t you tell me of your past!” “I do not have to answer all your questions. Just don’t miss me from here!” Her mum was stubborn. Karla got tired of her mum. She turned away and grabbed a bottle. “We found you a better place. They have better resources and they take good care of you. Your surgery will go great there. Their surgeons are very good,” Karla said. “And who will pay for the surgery? Won’t it be more expensive than here?!” Her mother argued. “Mum, come on…” Karla hugged her mum. “Learn to trust me. I borrowed the money and pay for you. I will work on paying back this person soon.” “Is it Gabriel?” Her mum’s inquired. “Gabriel is still trying,” Karla shook her head. “It is someone else.” “Just don’t get into trouble,” her mum pleaded. Her mother was moved to the expensive hospital, the doctors swarming around her like bees. Anderson’s chauffeur pulled over before the hospital gates to pick Karla up for whatever his plan was. The pompous CEO had made her his puppet and hoped she does whatever he wants. “Comply and you will be fine,” he says. They pulled over before an expensive mall she’d heard so much about but never stepped into. “Welcome to Luxurious Quin Mall,” the chauffeur introduced as he pulled up before the ten storey building. Karla swallowed hard. “I don’t deserve to be here…I…,” she tried to refuse, but the driver ignored her. He opened the door for her to step out, and she felt like a lost puppy. 5 ladies approached her smiling nice. They were all dressed in uniforms, possibly because they worked in the mall. “Come with us,” they said in unison. The whole situation seemed planned and robotic. Entering a couple of elevators made her feel light, but that was not the worst one yet. The luxurious clothing line sent her derailed. “Change into this,” the workers said, handing her different styles of clothing change into. “Again!” One ordered her back in, feeling dissatisfied by its outcome. What the hell was this?! The clothes were freaking expensive, and Karla was scared to touch them. Just the price tag alone was enough to send her into a coma. Why the hell was Anderson Stone or whatever his name was, doing this for her? “Next stop, the beauty salon,” the chauffeur informed her after her stressful day at the mall. “Again?” She asked with surprise. “The dresses are enough for me. I do not want anymore…Why is he doing this?” she shook her head but was forced out anyway. Her hair was restyled and her nails were filed. She was given a tremendous makeover, causing her to feel different. She could barely recognize herself before the mirror. The person standing before it wasn’t her. It was freaking someone else. “Next stop, the fashion house!” The chauffeur announced while she got back into the car. “There is more?!” She sounded despondent. They were greeted by a male cross dresser who welcomed her in and pointed towards a seat for her to sit. Her face looked drained by all the movements. “O Goodness! Who sits like that?! Get up!” He lashed at her, causing her to jump from the seat. “Excuse me?” She questioned. “As a lady with class, you sit with courtesy like this.” He sat down stylishly on the same chair, tucking one leg behind the other, and placing his hands on his laps. Karla‘s brain was gonna fry for sure. “There is nothing wrong with my sitting posture,” she argued stubbornly. “This is why I hate dealing with poor people,” the guy said in disappointment . ”Such a pain in the arse.” He rolled his eyes and turned to the his assistant. “Call Mr Anderson and tell him to send this b***h out of here,” he ordered. Karla’s heart sunk. “Wait!” She sharply stopped him recalling her mother. “I…I am sorry. I…I will do it.” “No, you don’t have to,“ he hissed. “You can go on wasting our time here.” “No, it’s fine,” she faked a smile. “I should sit, right? I will sit. It can’t be that hard.” She sat the way she was thought. Her stylist smirked enjoying her sitting posture. “You have the body babe,” he admitted. “You have the aura. Please don’t waste it.” Karla nodded. Consecutive days were hell for Karla, but she‘d gradually upgraded. She became more keen to luxurious lifestyle. In fact, those who knew her could barely recognize her as she changed her approach towards life. Classy Karla, they called her. Her mother’s surgery became a success, and just as Anderson promised, the old lady was able to walk properly again. Karla could barely control her emotions seeing her mother in good health. “Can she go home now?” She asked the doctor. “I am afraid she can’t,” the doctor refused. “She is still under observation for now. We can’t release her yet.“ Karla felt suspicious, as her hands went down her hair. This was Anderson’s doing wasn’t it? “You look so different, Karla? Have you joined modeling or something?” Her mother asked. “I just felt lIke trying something different. It isn’t bad, right?” Karla faked a smiled “Karla, you do not like change…” “Change is inevitable. Sometimes, we have to change,” she said sharply before holding her mum’s hands. “Hang on here. I will get you out of here soon.”
