CHAPTER 12
Manny and Mona stopped at a pancake house and ate before going on home. They went to the McCray ranch. Cathy and Alvin had taken Poppie and Glen to church, so there was no one home. Mona and Manny went to shower and change clothes. They met in the living room when they finished dressing.
Manny took Mona’s hand and led her to the sofa. He sat down and pulled her down beside him so he could hold her in his arms.
“Aren’t you sleepy?” asked Mona.
“A little, but I want to hold you in my arms more than I want to sleep,” answered Manny.
Manny reached for the remote and turned the television on. He turned the sound down some. He mainly wanted background noise.
The news was on. Manny and Mona watched as the reporter showed Governor Hayes and Mrs. Hayes along with Senator and Mrs. W
