CHAPTER 7 They finally brought Jewel back to intensive care. Giles followed them into her room. He asked the orderly if there was any news, but the orderly told him he just transported the patient. The doctor would have to give him the results. Giles sat down at Jewel’s bedside and held her hand as he resumed talking to her. The doctor finally came by. He told Giles the tests were inconclusive. There would have to be further tests. Giles went out and told Mona and Manny what the doctor had said. He let Mona go in and sit with her mom for a while, and he stayed in the waiting room with Manny. “Would you like some coffee or something to eat?” asked Manny. “No,” said Giles. “My stomach is tied up in knots.
