The Unexpected

Aubrey's POV
"I will be tutoring your younger sister?" I asked him again to be sure.
"Do you have hearing problems?" He asked irritated.
"No! I don't think I want to" I rejected.
"What?!" He asked shocked.
'No? You've always wanted to stay closer to him and you got a chance. Now you are saying No?" My inner goddess countered.
This could be a chance to get to be with him then I decided to accept the offer.
"May I ask what grade she's in?"
"She is being homeschooled." He answered sternly again.
"How old is she?"
"Seven"
'Okay. She should be in 5th grade'
"Okay. What subject does she need a tutor for?"
"What subjects can you teach?"
"I can teach math and social studies." I answered.
"Good. You start tomorrow." He commanded.
"Wow, wow, lieutenant Jake. I have got a life too you know?."I said to him.
"What did you call me?" His eyebrows creased together.
"Lieutenant." I answered him with confidence.
"You are just too controlling. Shouldn't you ask me what's my schedule is like first?" I crossed my arms over my chest and tilted my head to the side.
"When can you teach her?" He asked.
"I will check my schedule."
"And your pay?" He asked
"We will discuss that after checking my schedule."
"Will that be all?" I asked him.
"Aren't you going to get my number?" He asked
"Who should get whose number?" I asked him arching an eyebrow at his.
"You are the one that needs something from me. Therefore, it should be you that collects my number." I said to him and he scoff.
"I will be the one paying. You know that?" He moved a little closer to me.
"Well, listen Mr egoist." I moved closer to him that we were only few inches apart.
"I lived without your money and I can very well still live without your money." I eyed him.
"I am only trying to help you because I can see how desperate you are. So, eat up your ego." I said to him
After few seconds of our 'staring at each other game' he brought out his phone from his pocket and handed it to me.
I took the phone and turned to leave.
"Hey, where are you going with my phone?" He asked annoyed.
"I thought you gave me the phone to take home." I feign confused.
"I gave you the damn phone to put your number." He said angrily.
"You see? Your voice box isn't cracked. So, next time use words instead of being an ass." I rolled my eyes.
I typed in my number and returned his phone to him.
"Call me now." I said to him.
He glared at me.
"I receive order from no one. I will call you when I feel like it." He said sternly.
"Arrogant jerk" I spat
"Hey! Don't tempt me." He warned.
"Well, I've got a class to be. Bye."
I left him standing there looking at me.
As for me, I was in a desperate search for water to calm my nerves. I never expected to talk back at him like that. It was so unexpected.
I guess my inner goddess couldn't take his arrogant attitude anymore so, she stood for me.
I was done with my last class of the day and thought of going to the cafeteria to grab something before going back to the dorm. Then my phone rang.
"Hey, Dave." I greeted.
"Is 3pm still on?" He asked.
"Is it 3pm already?" I checked my wrist watch. It was just thirty minutes to.
"There is still thirty." I rolled my eyes even though he couldn't see me.
"I am heading to the dorm now. I will call you when I get there..... And do not forget to get your cousin ready." I reminded him.
"Okay. Thank you" he said. I hung the call and made my way to dorm.

Fortunately, Sarah was in when I got to the room.
"Hi" I greeted.
"Hey. How was class?" She asked.
"The first class was boring but the next one made up for it." I answered.
"Yeah, it happens." She chuckled.
I went to the bathroom with my phone and dialed Dave's number.
"Come over asap. She is in the room as I speak." I spoke into the silently.
"Okay. Will be there In twenty." He replied and I hung up.
I went back to the room trying not to look suspicious.
Sarah was lying on her bed backing me doing whatever on her phone.
"Erm... Sarah?" I called her.
She turned to look at me.
"Yeah?"
"I did something you wouldn't like but promise me you won't get angry once you find out." I pleaded clasping my palms together.
"What did you do?" She looked at me confused.
"Erm.... The thing is -" I got interrupted by a knock on the door.
Whoa! I wasn't expecting him to be here that fast.
"Are you expecting someone?" She asked looking from the door to me.
"Someone's here to see you." I smiled nervously.
I went to the door and opened it. It's Dave and a lady, presumably his cousin.
"Hey." Dave greeted.
He entered into the room with his cousin.
"What?" Sarah stood up abruptly.
"I thought I said----" I interrupted her
"I know what you said, about not wanting to see him ever again but give a chance to explain himself, please." I pleaded
"And why should I?" She folded her arms over her chest.
"Because he already explained to me and I thought you should listen to his explanation too."
"He is a cheat!" She yelled.
"This all started because of me." The cousin said.
"And I deeply apologize for that. My name is Annabelle, but you can call me Anna or belle since you are my cousin's girlfriend." She stretched forth her hand for Sarah to shake.
"Cousin?" Sarah asked confused.
"She is my cousin but you didn't give me the chance to explain". Dave said.
Sarah looked at me.
"I know I shouldn't have meddled but I saw how sad you were that was the reason I gave him a chance to explain. I am so sorry I didn't tell you about it." I apologized.
She looked back at Dave.
"How sure am I that are you not even lying to my face?"
"I wouldn't have followed him here." Annabelle answered the question.
I guess she was right. If Dave was lying Annabelle wouldn't have followed him here.
Dave moved closer to Sarah and hugged her.
"I am sorry I didn't give you a chance to explain." Sarah sobbed.
"It's okay. I am just so glad we are back together." He kissed her.
I was happy for the both of them.
"Thank you." Sarah smiled at me.
"Anytime." I smiled back at her
"Let's hang out?" Dave asked Sarah and she nodded.
"Do you wanna join? Sarah asked me.
"Nah, I will just stay here." I answered.
"You sure?" Dave asked and I nodded.
Sarah picked her essentials and left with them.

I was working on an assignment from one of my classes when my phone ringtone distracted me from it. It was an unknown.
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Hello, is this Aubrey?" I heard a little girl's voice.
"Yeah. Who is this and how may I help you?" I asked
"I am so happy it is you. This is Sharon on the line."
"Sharon? As in Jake's younger sister?" I asked to be sure.
"You got it right." She beamed
"My brother told me he already asked you to be my tutor?"
"Yeah, in a rude way though." I scoffed.
"I apologize on his behalf, that's how he is." She sighed.
"It's okay. May I ask why he wants me to be your tutor?" I asked her
"That was because I told him to. I told him I want you to be my tutor.
"Oh" I said in disappointment. I thought he asked me to, because he wanted me to but she was the one that asked for me.
"So, what do you say? I'd love it you agree to be my tutor." She said.
"What do you think of Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening?" I asked her.
"For?" She asked
"Tutorial sessions." I cleared.
"Really?" She shrieked in happiness.
"Really." I smiled at how happy she sounded.
"Those days are fine with me."
"Okay then. I will just have to inform Jake about the arrangements then." I said
"I will also tell him. Thank you so much."
"It's fine. We shall start this next Saturday, Okay?"
"Okay. I will be waiting for you."
"Bye" I said
"Bye" She replied.
I hung up and dropped my phone on my desk.
'Tutoring her won't be a bad idea right? That way I will get to see Jake even more.' I thought.
I went back to finishing my assignment.
