CHAPTER 1: FORBIDDEN AROUSAL
CHAPTER 1: FORBIDDEN AROUSAL 'And This is your Stepbrother' The word 'Stepbrother' hit Arianna like a ton of bricks. She couldn't believe the jerk standing in front of her was now her stepbrother—the same jerk who had toyed with her heart years ago. He stood tall before her, his smirk deepening as he took in the pale expression on her face. "Stepbrother? Who? Him?" she managed to ask, trying to regain her composure. "Yes. He goes by the name Jace. Do you know him from anywhere?" Miss Caroline, her mother, asked, looking at Arianna with deep curiosity. Arianna let out an awkward laugh, trying not to seem too suspicious. "No way. This is my first time seeing him," she quickly replied, attempting to brush off the tension, even as more hatred grew in her heart. She could vividly remember her high school days; he was a popular senior whom she had secretly crushed on. When he asked her to be his girlfriend, she was caught off guard. He seemed genuinely interested in her, which made her give him a chance to love her... but everything shattered when she learned the painful truth: he never loved her. He only dated her as part of a dare with his friends. It broke her heart and ended every single relationship she had with him. But fate has a cruel sense of humor. And here he was, her ex. The boy she once opened her heart to, now standing before her not as a distant memory, but as her stepbrother. The very word mocked her, making her throat feel like it was being pricked by thorns. His eyes met hers across the room, and she knew instantly that nothing had changed. His hunger hadn’t dimmed; it had sharpened, grown feral. He didn’t need to touch her for her to feel his claim; that look was enough. "And this is your stepsister Ruby. From the looks of things, their father and I will be getting married soon, so they are officially your step-siblings," Caroline concluded the introduction, holding onto her husband. The cute girl, about eighteen years old, rushed over to hug me, bubbling with happiness. "Wow! I can't believe I finally have an older sister who's this beautiful! I can't wait to tell all my friends!" she exclaimed joyfully, and all Arianna could do was smile back at her. "It's a good thing you all are getting along," Mr. Santiago said, leading the way to the dining table. "Of course they will. My Ari doesn't have much problem " Caroline replied with a chuckle. They were guided to the dining table, which was already filled with various delicacies. Arianna was already salivating at the sight of the meal laid out before her. They all poured wine into their glasses and raised a toast. "Cheers to family!" Mr. Santiago announced. "Cheers!!" they all chorused. The sound of clinking glasses and laughter filled the air, except for Arianna, who was trying to compose herself, feeling the weight of Jace's gaze boring into her delicate skin. The meal ended shortly, and Ruby led Arianna to her room. She could swear she was already falling in love with her cute sister, blushing every time Ruby complimented her. "Goodnight! Don't forget we have an outing tomorrow. It's going to be fun, trust me," she reminded Arianna before leaving the room. Arianna took a quick shower before collapsing onto her bed. She couldn't believe how fast life was changing. It was hard to accept that her mother was remarrying. She had chosen happiness after her scumbag father walked away from the family without a second thought, yet here she was, trapped in the same house with her worst nightmare: Jace! A light knock at the door jolted Arianna from her thoughts. She stood up and walked over to the door. Before she turned the knob, she silently prayed it wasn't the jerk she never wanted to see again. Jace. The name burned in her throat with every ounce of hatred she felt. Arianna opened the door slowly, and her eyes locked with his. She quickly tried to shut the door, but he stopped it. Jace forced his way into her room, pinning her against the wall without a hint of remorse. "What do you want, Jace?" she asked, trying to sound bolder than she felt. Arianna watched as a cruel smirk spread across his devilishly handsome face. "Why did you lie?" he asked smugly. Her brows furrowed as she tried to understand his question. "Lie about what exactly? You shouldn't be in here," she confronted him, attempting to push him away, but he stood tall, blocking her escape. "About not knowing who I was. Gosh, you played the innocent card well," he mocked, his grin only fueling her anger. She felt like punching him but felt utterly powerless. "So what am I supposed to say? That it wasn't my first time seeing you and that you're the scumbag ex who toyed with my heart?" Arianna shot back angrily. She noticed his face twist in shock and disbelief. "You've gotten bolder, little rebel. Was it because of the past? I told you I fell for you after getting to know you, but you wouldn’t let me explain." "I don't need your explanation, Jace. It's already over between us. We're step-siblings now, so get that straight and stop staring at me like some pervert." Before she could push him away, he buried his head in her neck, inhaling her scent as if it were the oxygen he depended on. "Ooh, Arianna, your scent is still intoxicating as ever. You haven't changed one bit; you still burn under my touch. I can smell your arousal," Jace said, his words raw, making her lose her balance. His hand found its way under her shirt, his cold fingers tracing her delicate skin from her navel to her lower abdomen, causing her breath to hitch. She wanted to push him away and assert that she wasn't the scared girl she used to be, but her body betrayed her, responding to his touch, which only deepened his smirk. "I don't feel anything for you," she tried to sound firm, but her voice betrayed her, coming out more like a moan. "Don't lie to me, little rabel. Or should I slide my fingers across your panties to see just how dripping wet you are?" His words shattered every bit of esteem she had.
