Season 1: Ep 18
It's a cold day in a very small city and a young girl in her final high-school days sheds a tear early in the morning. Evie felt overwhelmed that morning, but couldn't understand why she felt that way, neither did she know she was about to lose the most precious gift she could have ever had, her brother. She went on to write her exam as usual and came back home from a long day of writing, went straight to bed, and slept from the tiredness. The sun goes down and the moon rises. 20:00 is the time Evie wakes up to a calling from outside the gate, but decides to ignore it because she thought her parents would rather attend to the gate, but what she did not know was her mother went deaf for a minimal moment there and her father was halfway through the country, traveling to another. She realizes that there is no response to the people calling out, "Pastor! Pastor!", who is her dad, and therefore decides to go to the TV room and ask her mother about it. Her mother looks at her as she tries to speak with her and gives no response. That's when Evie realized her mother had gone deaf for a moment. She then decides to repeat what she said, "There are people by the gate, shouting out to dad". She hears her and then says: "Who are they at this time of the night and why are they here?" Evie responded by saying they should go and check. They open the sliding door of the TV room, which is closer to their smaller gate, and attend to the people by the gate. When they get to the gate, they hear these people say they are policemen, but they have trust issues. Therefore, the policemen state that it truly is them and prove it. Evie and Mrs. P opened the gate for them, along with her grandmother, Granma Nanny. The policemen ask who the mother is or the owner of the household and they state that Mrs. P is, pointing in her direction. At that moment, because Evie's brother was so troublesome, they had thought he was in some sort of trouble, but it was a different case this time. Looking at the mother, the policemen tell her that they had found her son, hanging himself in one of the shacks in the area, not far away from where they lived. They handed over his belongings, his wallet rather. It was at this moment when Evie's world stopped, it was as if time was no longer ticking and the world had stopped operating for a while. Her mother did not believe what she heard, so the policemen repeated it and that's when Mrs. P burst into tears. Granma Nanny needed to be strong for Evie and Mrs. P, so she sent Evie to the kitchen to get some water that contains sugar for her mother. Evie did just that. On her way to the kitchen, she could barely hold back the tears anymore and she fell to the ground and burst into tears. Granma Nanny, hearing her cry, rushed to her, picked her up, and asked her to hold it in so she could help her call her father. She called Mr. P and let him know what had transpired. He heard cries in the background, which confused him. He thought it was a burglary but Grandma Nanny explained better than she did before as to what was actually going on. So he had to go back home... carry on with his trip, which was very crucial at the moment.
