CHAPTER 52 Jamieson’s scream, humming at high volume through the wire, sent Frost into full-blown protection mode. He’d been halfway out the door of the van before Rafferty caught him by the back of his jacket and hauled him back in. “Hold on, lover boy,” Rafferty said. “Don’t go blowing her cover.” “But she needs us,” Frost insisted, scrabbling once again at the door handle. “No, I don’t think so.” Rafferty pulled the toothpick from between his teeth and surveyed the splintered end. “That scream sounded like anger, not fear, and I’m guessing it was pure theater.
