CHAPTER 59 Steadman pressed the button on the remote control, raising his bed into a sitting position. His lips twisted into a smile at the irony. The last time he’d held his finger against a remote control button it had landed him here, in this hospital bed. He’d been well and whole, then. Now he had six broken bones, a ruptured spleen, and an assortment of other injuries. He and Hank could be bookends on the shelf of battered lives the Lizardos left behind, but at least their injuries would heal. Many others had suffered wounds they might never recover from.
