BEGINNING OR THE END?
Crimsonville, the land of the undead. Existing over a thousand centuries, it prospers under the rule of the ancient one. But, nothing in this world comes for free, not even happiness. Every 100 years, the ancient one demands a bride. A pure virgin bride.
It starts with heavy flooding and the death of livestock. The village head takes no time in recognizing the sign from the ancient one. He wants a bride.
The heavy pour almost feels the sky crying over Agatha's inevitable fate. Being the village tailor, she isn't somebody of great significance. There was no hesitancy when the village chose her. Agatha was the perfect beauty in all senses, with dark hair that could bring shame to the night sky and brown eyes that shimmered bright like liquid gold. The villagers were aware she would please the eyes of the ancient one.
Agatha's cries pierce through the ears of the sky itself as she sits beside her late grandma's tomb and reminisces about the life she once had, before being chosen as the ancient one's bride. She remembers her grandma's nightly stories of the ancient one being the village's Saviour and how every 100 years the village needs to give back to him for all that he has done for them, except that the sent brides never return, and their tragic fate is forgotten by the villagers almost like they never existed.
Agatha cries as she she mourns. She cries until the tears run dry, her eyes become bloodshot red, almost doing justice to her birthplace's name and her status as the ancient one's bride, whose eyes also glow red.
The morning of her departure is celebrated by the villagers like it's a joyous occasion. The village maidens dressed her up in the most amazing piece of white dress that could easily be compared to the moon, dazzled in jewelry that she never had, almost like a dream wedding truly, except there was no priest, no church, no music but a long journey of covering two sun-mountains to reach the ancient one's castel.
The villagers sent along with several more presents for the newly wed, all while Agatha was blaming her fate for all the sufferings that awaited her. The village head spoke " Agatha, it's your duty to save the village, give the village back its lost glory. You are the one in whose hands lies the fate of several hundred villagers. I pray to the moon god she blesses you with the power to fulfill your responsibility". With shaky hands he blessed Agatha.
Agatha kneeled down to take his blessing as the village head spoke " May you fulfill your greatest purpose and bring Crimsonville another 100 years of prosperity". As she rises up she looks at the place where she spent her childhood and the next few years.
Agatha finally turns and leaves for the sun-mountains to reach her destination to the ancient one and serve her purpose of bringing Crimsobville peace and happiness for the next 100 years.
