Chapter 16 - Dinner and a Rescue part 1

1782 Words
Tyler's POV After Teira and Kyle left the gym, I turned to Matt cautiously, "Are you sure this will help? Kyle seemed sure it would cause more problems for Teira than it would solve." I asked quietly to not draw the attention of the other warriors. They had been interested in watching the siblings spar; I knew Kyle was fast, but to see Teira moving around him in almost a blur was amazing. And she thought she wasn't good at fighting! Sure, Kyle had tripped her up a few times but that was only due to him knowing her weaknesses. If another enemy came at her, they'd have to catch her first. Teaching her some evasive moves would make her mostly unstoppable. Afterwards, she had let slip a little more about her home situation to Matt causing him to link us quickly. He'd had an idea to talk to Dad as soon as we got back to the packhouse about sending an Omega to the Harris's household under the guise as a reward for Mr. Harris's hard work, but really a way to help Teira get a break from chores. Matt was sure that it would work but Kyle was unconvinced. We didn't want to upset Teira, so we didn't let her know because she would refuse it outright. Matt smiled, "I'm not a hundred percent sure, but if we have Dad play it up and pour on the praise to Mr. Harris. Hopefully, he'll accept it and make Teira's life a bit easier." Ryan looked at him a bit skeptically, "And what happens if he doesn't? What happens if he gets angry and takes it out on Teira? What do we do then?" he asked. Matt frowned uncertainly, "He shouldn't; I mean, who wouldn't want to be rewarded for their hard work?" he said. I waved that off, "Just work with us; what do we do if, in the worst-case scenario, he punishes Teira for this?" I asked seriously. Matt growled, "Then we work to get her out of that house and punish her parents for ever laying a hand on her in the first place." he said seriously and Ryan and I nodded in agreement. After training was finished, we showered and headed back to the packhouse. It was a multi-story building in the center of town surrounded by the homes of the other high-ranking members. The building was a ranch-style house with a large wraparound porch and a swimming pool and patio in the back. We parked the SUV in the garage and headed inside; Mom was in the kitchen, directing the omegas cooking on exactly what she wanted made for dinner that evening. She turned when she heard us come in and smiled brightly, "Boys! So glad you came home quickly. The Pierces will be here shortly and you need to change. Hurry upstairs you go." she said ushering us towards the elevator. I groaned, but Mom ignored me; I didn't want to spend time with Whitley. She was nothing more than a power-hungry wh*re who'd do anything to get to the highest rank possible. And because we were the future Alphas, that meant trying to flirt/sleep with one or all of us if we'd have her. Thankfully, none of us have touched her. We didn't abstain, but we were pretty particular about who our bed partners were and anyone who would cause drama was off the list. Unfortunately, Mom was best friends with Mrs. Pierce. So we had to put up with sly remarks about mating followed by sneaky looks and shameless flirting on Whitley's part specifically. Usually, we just put up with it, but tonight we weren't interested. After meeting Teira, all thoughts of other girls went out the window and the fact that Whitley had been bullying her angered my wolf something fierce. We made our way to the top floor, instead of heading to the third floor where our rooms were. Matt was right; our girl needed a break from all the chores, and she was going to get it, one way or another. Dad's office was just down the hall and Ryan led the way. Knocking on the door, a voice called, "Enter." and we walked in quietly. Dad was sitting behind his desk, working quietly, while Mr. Harris was seated at the desk to his left, talking on the phone. We stood in front of Dad's desk, quietly waiting for Mr. Harris to get off the phone, but he just frowned and kept talking, dragging the conversation on. He's doing it on purpose. I linked and Ryan and Matt growled in response. We knew Mr. Harris hated it when we came to speak to Dad so he did petty things to get back at us for bothering him. Dad finished writing and looked up, smiling warmly at us; his gray eyes were kind and inviting, and his dark hair was tinged with a bit of gray, but it was barely noticeable. He glanced at Mr. Harris who quickly wiped his face into a professional mask, "David, would you please give us a minute? I need to speak with the boys." he said kindly. Mr. Harris smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes, "Of course, Alpha." he said, hanging up the phone. I snorted softly, he wasn't even trying to hide the fact there was no one on the other end. As soon as David closed the door, Dad turned to us eagerly, "What do you boys need?" he asked knowing we wouldn't bother him unless it was important. Ryan looked at Matt, who stepped forward, "We have an idea to reward David, for all his help with the pack matters. He handles a lot of responsibility for you, as well as his wife makes amazing clothes and Kyle's an awesome fighter. And we want to show David our appreciation." he explained. Dad c****d his head to the side curiously but didn't interrupt. When Matt finished, Dad smiled warmly. "I think that's an excellent idea. David has been hinting at needing help and I'm sure with how busy his family is, they could always use another pair of hands to keep the place clean. I'll present it to him shortly, but you boys had better go get changed quickly. Your mother has sent me the five-minute warning over the link." he said, pointing at his mind. We stiffened but didn't argue and thanked him. Leaving quickly, we passed David in the hall sending us a glowering look before he strode back into the office. I didn't give it another thought as I raced my brothers to the elevator and pushed the button. I didn't want to go to this dinner but I was happy imagining Teira's home life getting a bit easier with help from one of the packhouse omegas. I walked into my closet, grabbed some clothes, and changed quickly. I wore a white dress shirt and black slacks with black dress socks and shoes. I then ran a wet comb through my unruly hair, styling a bit to show I made an attempt for Mom. When I walked out of my room, Matt opened his door striding out in a gray dress shirt and khaki slacks with white socks and gray loafers. His hair was still the curly mess it turned into when it dried from the shower but it didn't show. Nobody usually noticed unless they were looking really close. Ryan opened his door across the hall, he was wearing a black vest over a white dress shirt and dark gray slacks with black socks and shoes. His long hair was tied back into a loose ponytail and he sighed as he saw us, "Ready?" he asked wearily. I shrugged and Matt shook his head, "Let's just get this over with." he said as we got into the elevator and headed down to the dining room on the first floor. We barely had time to get out of the elevator when a blonde blur in a short pink dress tackled Ryan in a hug. Her perfume was sickly sweet making me almost gag, "Ryan! Tyler! Matty! I'm so happy you finally came down. I was worried you were going to stand me up." Whitley simpered pulling away from Ryan and trying to touch each of us in turn. I dodged her attempt, and so did Matt, who had cringed at her nickname for him, "Of course not, Whitley, we just had some business with Dad to take care of before getting ready. Sorry to keep you waiting." Matt said politely as we walked into the dining room. Everyone was gathered around the large wooden table, Whitley tried to sit between Ryan and Matt but I smoothly escorted her to the chair on the other side of the table before taking that spot myself. Ryan gave me a bit of a sideways smile, Thanks man, she's way too clingy. Feels like I'm being strangled every time she touches me. He linked. I smiled back, I know and her perfume makes me want to gag. But we have to be polite for Mom's sake at least. I linked back. Matt snorted, I don't care whether Mom gets embarrassed or not. Whitley calls me 'Matty' again and I'll dunk her in her soup. He growled. I tried not to laugh and luckily, Whitley was too busy trying to suck up to Mom to notice. Thankfully, dinner passed quickly; we chatted politely with our guests, and despite the looks from Mom and Whitley's parents' suggestions, we managed to excuse ourselves, stating we needed to study. Whitley tried to follow, trying to suggest her joining us but Dad stopped her noticing the look on Matt's face when she tried to hold his hand. We wished everyone a good night and started to head for the elevator when Kyle's panicked voice sounded through the link, Alphas! I need help! I tried to stop him but Dad's taken Tei to the basement for punishment! They've locked me in my room and I can't get to her! She's screaming! Help her! I froze, and my eyes turned dark; fear, rage, terror, and a sense of urgency rushed through me. I didn't even give my brothers a chance to react. I shifted to my large black wolf, Smoke, tearing through my clothes and ran out the front room. I could hear Matt link Dad to tell him what happened, and Ryan summon warriors to back us up, but I didn't care. Teira, my princess, my girl, was in trouble, and if her father laid one hand on her, then even the Moon Goddess wouldn't stop me from killing him...
