I couldn't go back to sleep. it hurt too much to think about the dream I had. I got up I went to the bathroom and splash some water in my face. I looked into the mirror, I had Brown wavy hair and my eyes were Brown too. and although I was scared my eyes did not reflect my emotions. they were calm almost angry. I didn't understand why. I continue to inspect my head my neck. I did not know why but I was feeling pain in that area. I couldn't fall asleep, no that's not right, I cannot fall asleep. I was tired of the nightmares. so, I decided to continue to work. I walked myself from the bathroom to the dining room. there stood a large pile of papers and files. I grabbed one and started to read. these papers were filled with cases of homicide victims. All these people were loved by another and suffered a tragic fate. I am usually haunted by the stories I encounter. although the dream I just had, I had never heard before.
Before I knew it was 8:00 AM and I needed to get ready to go to work. I decided to take a cold shower to wash off the nightmare one last time. I got out of the shower and I wore jeans and a shirt and pullover hoodie. I put on my shoes and I headed out the door. I decided to take my car since I was running late. I drove through the city streets and ended up at a concrete building with a lot of windows. I parked my car and walked to the entrance. then towards the doors and ended up in the main office. “Amira,” said the security guard, “it's very lovely to see you in the morning.”. “thank you, Roy you are as dashing as ever,” I smirked. I continue to the elevator up to the fifth floor where my office was at. I walked into my big glass room and sat down and continue reading more files. then I heard a knock at the door. “Amira,” Said Aaron “ I have a new case for you to look at”. I continue to look at him in disgust. It's not that I didn't like my job, I just didn't like Aaron. “OK, bring it over here,” I said. “It's urgent,” he told me, “the higher-ups are really pushing For it to be solved as quickly as possible”. Now I was becoming intrigued, what could be so important about this case that it had to be put in the first place. as Aaron brought me the file I took it out of his hands as quickly as I could and opened it. when I looked at the photo of the victim I nearly passed out. it was Colin, the guy in my dreams. Aaron saw my dismay and asked me “what is wrong?”
I couldn't move, I was stuck in thought. then I felt a hand touch my arm. it made me jump in a heard Aaron say “hey take it easy Mir”. I couldn't look at him but I said “ you know you can call me that anymore.” I looked out the window. “I am not your fiancé anymore,” I told him. I turned back and looked at his face. I knew that I hurt him when I remind him. I know he still has feelings for me. I mean I still have feelings for him, but I cannot tell him because I don't want to hurt him anymore. But he stays near me. he asked to specifically work with me. And I am willing to work with him, but I must set boundaries. but there is no denying that I do miss his touch. And I continued to speak “Anyhow…. what is the most relevant data we have on him because I'm sure you read the file.”. he seemed to snap out of it and started to talk, “his name was Colin. He worked for a man named Mathias and Mathias is a wealthy businessman that is in charge of a chain of bars in clubs. Furthermore, it seemed that Colin was asked by Matthias to go visit a business partner. Although Colin never came back and everyone was wondering where he was.” he looked at me to make sure I was listening and then continued, “And it seems that Colin was very important because everyone is looking for him, but the question is who would murder him?”. I thought about it and said, “where was Colin from?”. “He's from a city called Tullsilk.” Erin continued, but before he could say anything else, I said “then we are going to Tullsilk. pack your bags, Erin, we are going on an adventure!”. look at Aaron and he looks at me with unamusement and he says “you say that as if this doesn't work.” and I look at him and smile and say “work is always fun”. with that I dashed out the door into my car and towards my house.
When I get to my house, I realized how much of a mess it really is. There are piles of paper everywhere but there's no time to clean up and I head to my room. I realize that I have a pile of clothes on the floor and some are filled with dirt in others with dust. I realize I have a problem, but I need to pack. I pack whatever clean clothes I have and look for any documents I might need and that's when I find the necklace I hadn't seen before. although it's not uncommon for me to get to not remember the items I have bought. I am an impulsive buyer after all. I find this necklace really pretty and I take it with me. as I packed my bag I head out the door and run straight into a hard chest.
