Wyatts pov

What in the hell just happened? Wyatt’s wolf Axel was just as surprised and confused as Wyatt was. What the hell just happened? Piper smelt like a regular run of the mill human just seconds ago. He could smell the three humans the minute he walked out the kitchen door. Now he wasn’t sure what he could smell. She smelled like a wolf but it was different. Like a supercharged wolf smell mixed with something else.

“Piper!” Her parents ran to her and pulled her into their arms as soon as she uttered that fateful word.

“Derek, what the hell just happened to our baby girl? You are a supposed expert in this spooky weird s**t, so please tell me you know what is going on.” Piper's mother exclaimed.

“Carla, I told you what this place is and who lives in this town. You know we are a part of a pack.” Derek said.

“That’s not what I meant you jackass. I have known about wolves my whole life. Why do you think we never see or hear from my family? I was born wolfless into a pack and got sent away when I turned 18. The alpha gave me a car, keys to an apartment in the city, and a thousand dollars cash and told me not to come back. I mean what the hell just happened to our daughter!”

“Mom, what happened?” Piper asked.

“Honey, you don’t know?” Piper’s mother asked her with concern.

“I feel a little dizzy and strange. I remember Mr. Lancaster and Mr. Scott coming over to us, then I began to smell the most incredible smell. Did I black out or something?”

“Or something”, Bennett laughed sarcastically.

“Honey, something strange happened and we need to do a little bit of research on it to know exactly how to answer that. You and I will come back tomorrow and get the Jeep, I want you to go home with mom for right now and relax. I think that is the best course for everyone right now.” Piper’s father looked to Wyatt as he said the last part.

“Yes baby I think that is the best thing for you right now. Come home with me and your father will figure it all out.” Piper’s mother said as she steered her toward the car.

Wyatt had been quiet during the entire episode. He didn’t know what the think at this point. She was definitely his mate. He could feel the mate tug and smell her the moment he laid eyes on her. But when that had happened, she had been human. He didn’t know what she was now. His senses were all out of whack. He didn’t want his mate to leave his side, the desire to snatch her and run into the house was so strong, but he didn’t want to scare her. He needed time to figure everything out and she needed time to figure out what being a mate was.

He watched Piper ride off with her mother and felt a sense of emptiness. Almost like his soul was aching for someone he didn’t even know. He had to admit though, his mate was the most stunning, beautiful, and perfect woman he had ever seen. He already couldn’t wait until she was in his arms, couldn’t wait to touch her soft pink lips with his own.

Wyatt was startled from his thoughts by Bennett being, well, Bennett.

“So yea, any idea what is going on here professor? Cos I gotta tell you, I don’t know why, but your daughter does not smell like a normal wolf.”

“I wish I had an answer Bennett. But it seems my family life just got a whole lot bigger and more interesting. Wyatt, do you mind if I head to the library and get started. I understand you probably want to be with your mate as soon as possible, but as her father, I would really like an idea of what just happened to my previously human daughter. I would also like to borrow Terrence to make the digging go a little smoother.”

“I understand completely Derek. I know I would feel the same way if it were my daughter in question. And I will give you every resource you need to figure it out. But just understand that being an alpha, I can hold my wolf off to a certain extent but time in not unlimited. Wolves can only be separated from their true mate for so long before the wolf changes and not for the better, if you get my meaning. Bennett, link Ter and tell him to get his ass to the library immediately, if the bookworm isn’t already there.” Wyatt turned and headed inside to his office to do some research of his own.
