Chapter 21

Piper’s POV

As twilight settled in, fear crept into Piper like a cold evening mist. She was not ready for this. How could her life change so much in the space of a day. Her body began to tremble and a cold sweat dotted her forehead. Wyatt reached over and took her hand. He squeezed and rubbed his thumb along her thumb. “It is going to be ok, Piper.”

He stood up and pulled Piper to her feet. “It’s almost time everyone. Carla, if you would go and get Piper something to wear when this is all done, that would be great. Let's all go to the back of the yard at the tree line.” He gently pulled Piper with him and they walked to the edge of the backyard.

As she stood in the rising moonlight, her body began to tingle. It felt like tiny waves of anticipation mixed with caffeine running through her body. She looked at Wyatt and said, “Something is happening, I feel strange.”

Wyatt let go of her hand and stepped back. He began to remove his clothes and once he was completely naked he shifted into Axel. Axel was enormous. His head reached six feet easily, beautiful sleek black fur covered his body, all except a white crescent moon on his chest and white socks on his paws. He turned his glowing blue eyes to Piper and slowly walked up to her. He nuzzled her shoulder when he noticed the swear on her forehead. She didn’t seem afraid of him, just in awe of his beauty. She slowly reached up a hand and touched his soft fur, running her trembling fingers through it.

Suddenly, Piper bent over, arms wrapped around her stomach, and screamed. Carla ran over to help her undress. Wyatt growled and Terry and Bennett turned away to undress and shift.

“Mom, it hurts so much. I feel like I am dying.” Piper sobbed.

“Shhh, honey, it’s your bones breaking to realign. I know it hurts, but it will be over soon.”

Piper fell to the ground in pain. Axel walked over to lay next to her with his body touching hers, his head by her arm. As soon as Axel touched her, Piper felt the pain start to lessen. I was still there but it was not as intense as before, more tolerable and manageable.

Piper felt every bone in her body breaking. She watched as her arms elongated and long sharp claws erupted from her finger tips. Tufts of fur began to sprout from her skin and her face grew into a long muzzle. She watched as the ground began to move further away as she grew into her new shape.

Finally the pain stopped. Piper lifted her head to the moon and let out a howl that shook the ground like thunder.

Axel stared in awe at his mate. Standing before him was Destiny. She had to be just as tall as Axel, possibly taller. Her fur was a silver and gold brindle that sparkle like glitter in the moonlight. Destiny slowly turned to look at Axel and he was blown away by her eyes. Her eyes glowed the most vibrant green that he had ever seen.

Axel bowed down to his Luna. Terry’s wolf, Blaze, and Bennett’s wolf, Tempest, followed Axel’s lead and bowed to their Queen. All three wolves joined Destiny in howling to the moon goddess.
