Wyatts pov

It was well after midnight and Wyatt was still sitting at his desk in front of his laptop. He had spent the night reading every myth and legend he could find online that could have any ties to what happened today. He was still trying to wrap his brain around what had happened with Piper.

Hey Axel, do you have any ideas or theories rattling around? I am coming up empty here. Wyatt was hoping his wolf might have a clue.

I tried to talk to Mother about it. She is being very secretive. She knows what is going on with Mate but she seems to think it will be fun for us to figure it out on our own.

Well crap. Of course Selene knows and just doesn’t want to tell us. Isn’t that just like a supreme being, get their kicks while us mortals chase our tales.

“That is not a very nice way to think of me” said a musical voice from behind him. Wyatt spun around in his chair so fast he almost spun himself right our of it.

Standing behind him leaning up against the window sill was a beautiful woman. she had long black hair, petite features, and bright blue eyes. Her long silver dress flowed to her ankles and fell in waves almost like a sheer mist. She was tall and thin at the waist but perfectly rounded in the hips and chest and gave off an air of elegance and poise. “Who are you and how the hell did you get in here?”

“I am Selene and I believe you have some questions for me.”

“The Moon Goddess?”

“Yes my child, that is what I said.”

Wyatt was standing there with his mouth open in shock. Selene was standing here in his office like it was a usual visit for her. He had never imagined in his life that he would be standing in his office talking to the moon goddess in the flesh.

“What happened this afternoon with Piper? When she first got here she was human. I could smell it on her. I could smell it as I approached them. Then out of nowhere she can smell me as her mate, is surrounded by this sliver glow, and then her scent changes completely and I can’t place exactly what she is.”

Selene smiled softly. “I can’t tell you everything because some things need to be figured out in their own time. I can tell you that Piper was adopted. She can tell you that story herself. But her birth parents were a true Romeo and Juliet of their time. Forbidden love at its finest hour. They were not supposed to meet let alone fall in love. I guess that was my fault since they were mates. I can tell you that Derek and Terrence are getting close to their story. It is in an ancient book in your library and it has been forgotten and covered in dust. Piper’s birth parents were the beginning of a legendary prophecy that Piper was born to fulfill. Find the prophecy and you will have the beginning of the answers to all of your questions.”

With that, Selene disappeared before his eyes. He blew out a breath that he didn’t know he had been holding during her little speech. Wyatt slammed his hands down on his desk and uttered a curse. Why did they never make anything easy?

I guess we are headed to the library then huh? Axel asked.

Obviously. After a stop in the kitchen for a coffee. No sleep tonight I guess.
