Chapter 24

Chapter 24 Piper’s POV Piper could hear the beeping of the monitors and smell the sterile smell of a hospital room. She could also smell the pungent aroma of flowers. She slowly started to try opening her eyes, but the light in the room was so bright it took a few minutes. When she was finally able to open her eyes fully, she looked around the room and slowly took it all in. She was in a very homey looking hospital. The walls were a very pale sunny yellow with white curtains hanging in the windows. There was a beautiful yellow, white and blue quilt draped over her. On the window sill was a blue glass vase with sunflowers in it. Under the window was a long pine desk with a t.v. and about a dozen more vases filled with flowers in every color and shade. Next to the desk was a tan recliner with a sprawled out Wyatt in it fast asleep. She heard a nose to her left and looked over. There was a beautiful, tall woman leaning against the door that looked a lot like Wyatt. “It’s good to see you back to the world of the living, Piper. My name is Kinzie, I’m Wyatt's sister, and I am the head pack doctor here. I have been keeping an eye on you and my brother of course.” “Hi. It’s nice to meet, I wish it were under more normal circumstances. How did I get here?” Piper asked. “From what I gather, your shift took too much out of you and you passed out right after. Wyatt and the boys brought you here after. And I believe that was, hmm, six days ago.” “Six days?! I have been asleep for six days?!” Piper exclaimed. “Yes, Love, and everyone has been worried about you. I think you even gave Kinzie some gray hairs.” Wyatt said from the corner. The girls didn’t even realize he was awake. Piper smiled at him, then she remembered Layla and a panicked expression came over her face. “Oh, no! I missed my coffee with Layla!” “It’s okay Piper. She called me when you didn’t show up and I told her what happened. She has been in here everyday since and I think two of those bouquets are from her. She will probably be by after her shift today just like every other day.” He chuckled and added, “I don’t know what you did, but it seems you have made a best friend out of the un-friendliest person in the pack.” “Yea, her and her little b**ch squad are usually after everyone, so watch out. But hey, maybe you can straighten them out a little bit.” Kinzie added. “I just want to avoid drama at any cost,” Piper sighed. “So how did my shift go. I remember Destiny coming forward, then I changed again into Tundra? Is that possible?” Yes it is Piper. A new voice responded to her in her head. I am Tundra, your Lycan, and it feels so good to finally talk to you. I was locked away for so long I was afraid I would never get to be free. It’s nice to meet you, Tundra. Maybe you can help me figure out this new life of mine. Everything is just so overwhelming right now and I feel like I have no time to process it and take it all in. I know it has been a lot to handle. And there is even more to come. But Destiny and I are here every step of the way to help. So is that yummy mate of ours. Piper looked at Wyatt. “Were you talking to Tundra?” He asked. “I was. How did you know?” “When we talk to our wolves, or mind link each other, our eyes cloud over to a whitish color. Just now yours were pitch black.” Kinzie said in awe. “I am sorry, I am just so excited. There hasn’t been a Lycan around in hundreds of years and I get to have one as my sister!” She almost sounded like a giddy school girl. “So I am not a complete freak?” “Oh you are a freak alright, but in the awesomest way,” Kinzie said. Wyatt shot Kinzie a look and asked, “So when can she leave?” “I would like to keep her here one more night just to make sure she is back to 100%. Then she can go, but with strict orders to take it easy.” Kinzie replied. “Okay,” Wyatt said. “Love, do you mind if I leave you for a little while. I have some pack work to get done and I am in need of a shower, well it’s long overdue,” he chuckled. “Please, go do whatever you need to do. I don’t want to keep you from anything. I feel bad I have kept you in limbo for six days as it is.” Wyatt kissed her on the forehead and left the room. The sparks were there as they always seemed to be. This was all going to take some getting used to, but the way Wyatt made her feel made it all worth it. She didn’t know how she got so lucky with Wyatt, but she was very glad she had met him.
