Chapter 28I'm so troubled by the rift between Patricia and me that I break all our rules and head for her place of work. We've agreed always to telephone, and not just turn up, when either of us is working but I'm frightened she won't take my call. I needn't have worried, however, because when she sees me she rushes over and hugs me.
“I'm so sorry, Danielle,” she says, “I've been an inconsiderate i***t. Will you forgive me?”
I'm so relieved I want to cry. “I just didn't know what was going on,” I reply. “I wasn't expecting anybody to come home with you and I'd never met Claire before. But of course you can bring your friends to the house. It's your home, after all.”
“I should've said something first, but it all happened so quickly,” she continues.
