Approaching the nursing station with a glass vase filled with lavender calla lilies, Pamela was not only relieved she could finally see her father but also upset at the predicament. Once she heard the news, she frantically left her assignment and drove to the VA hospital downtown. Hours passed before she arrived. She only hoped her father was still alive or at the very least not too angry with her for not being there when he needed her. Her private investigator job took her away from him during the day when she was supposed to oversee him and ensure things like this didn’t happen. Her father reassured her she was overbearing, and he didn’t need her there every minute of every day. He was a big boy and could take care of himself like he always did. Apparently
