Chapter 1: The Contract Marriage
The rain poured heavily as Luna Carter stood outside the Blackwood Group building, her thin coat soaked through.
Her hands trembled—not from the cold, but from fear.
Tonight, her family would lose everything.
Her father’s company was collapsing. The bank had frozen their accounts. Creditors were already at their door. And the only way out… was a man she had never wanted to meet.
Adrian Blackwood.
The coldest billionaire in the city.
Luna had heard the rumors. Ruthless. Arrogant. Heartless. A man who destroyed companies without blinking.
She took a deep breath and stepped inside.
The elevator ride to the top floor felt endless. Each second tightened the knot in her chest. When the doors finally opened, a secretary led her into a massive office with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Adrian Blackwood stood with his back to her.
Tall. Broad shoulders. Perfectly tailored black suit.
He turned slowly, his sharp gray eyes locking onto hers.
“You’re late,” he said coldly.
“I—” Luna swallowed. “I’m sorry.”
He studied her like she was a problem he didn’t want to deal with.
“So,” Adrian said, walking back to his desk, “you’re the Carter girl willing to sell herself to save her family.”
Her face burned. “I’m not selling myself.”
A thin, mocking smile touched his lips. “Then why are you here?”
He slid a document across the desk.
A contract.
Luna’s eyes dropped to the bold words at the top.
Marriage Agreement.
Her heart stopped.
“You marry me,” Adrian said flatly. “You become Mrs. Blackwood. In return, I erase your family’s debt.”
She stared at the paper, her hands shaking.
“This isn’t real,” she whispered.
“Oh, it’s very real,” he replied. “And you have no other choice.”
Silence filled the room.
Luna knew he was right.
Slowly, she picked up the pen.
And signed her life away.
She didn’t know it yet—but this contract would destroy them both.
