Chapters 1 and 2
[ Chapter 1 ]
We write our chapters on love. It's up to us how the story unfolds. Britney and I have been best friends ever since we were little children. We went to the same elementary school, middle school, and high school together.
I was adopting her as my little sister, and she was adopting me as her big brother. She was 23 years old, and I was 25 years old. Adopting her as my sister was one of the conditional reasons because deep down, I knew how much I wanted her so badly.
"Lead my heart to yours. Take my hand, and I will follow. We shall dance the lover's tango."
These were lines I would say to her whenever she was upset with me. If I were to describe her, I swear I would write a story.
It was a hot, sunny day. Everybody was in their summer outfit. I was sitting under a tree reading my favourite short story, 'Love At First Sight.'
I heard someone approaching from the back, and I knew who it was because she had been doing this ever since.
"Hey, you there," she said
"I knew it was you, pretty young lady," I said
"You will never get rid of that book, don't you?"
she asked, trying to tease me
I told you to stop asking that rhetorical question of yours because the answer will always remain the same.
"I will get rid of it when Captain Morgan puts his foot down," We both laughed.
"I was thinking about how about we go to the beach during the holidays, since we only left with a week to go back as students live," Bridgette said.
"Well, how about we start packing right now?" I said.
We both know each other from the back to the front, and we always enjoy teasing each other like this.
[ Chapter 2 ]
The following day, it was cloudy. Cloudy days were our favourite, and they never seemed to bother us or stop us from going on the trip. Road trips were also among our favourite activities. The cold wind blowing from the beach was such a heart-melting feeling. Britney was so jubilant. Her eyes sparkled with mischief, her cheeks were rosy, and she danced gratefully to the music. She was putting on her white dress with white flip-flops. She was like an angel, and I felt like I was shot with Cupid's arrow by the moment I gazed at her. I felt like I was a lion who was dying because of hunger. She was so attractive. She was like a star, always capturing my eyes whenever I looked at her.
“When we look at each other, laugh together, and share a moment of joy, it's almost unbearable not to tell you how much I love you. Sometimes, I break down and cry, unable to contain the secret of my love for you. When we first met, it was a simple friendship. But as time went on, my feelings for you deepened, and I realized it was more than just a friend. It was something profound and powerful.”
Those were words in my mind at that moment. My mind was a whirlwind of emotions, wishing I could summon the courage of a lion to tell her how I felt. But I was just a scared puppy, hiding in the bushes and watching its prey from a distance. I could never bring myself to approach her. She always asked me about my secret love, and I always pretended not to hear her, hoping that she would repeat herself. It pained me to know that she wasn't aware that the secret love I spoke of was her. Both of us have been dating, but our relationships never lasted as long as we expected. We told each other that dating wasn't for us and decided to take a break from it. Every time we dated someone else, we would end up collecting the broken pieces of our hearts, which still cut our fingers. But no matter what happened, we were always there for each other.
