Vice and Virtue

Thunder roars!!! – Heavy rain!!! –Stone pathway – Trees ablaze, crackling away into the darkness of the silent night – In the midst of this unusual chaos, uneven footsteps scurried away in all directions… This was about the only information I could understand from what I could see and hear from inside what looked like a deserted apartment… There were signs of someone trying to force their way into the room I was in but at this point I’m not even sure if it’s really someone or something. Once the sounds faded away, I could hear my own heart beating at a rate I never thought I would experience… I wanted to make a run for it but somehow my body wasn’t responding to my thoughts. My thoughts were all around shooting away with no goal or meaning to actually make sense of them… So I lay there, unable to act, unable to think and unable to understand my situation while waiting for the imminent danger to burst through the door…
