It’s now lunchtime, and let me tell you my mouth is watering. Lunch is something I never get to have. Pizza, salad, a burger, fries and a milkshake. They are definitely trying to get me to gain weight, and I am not complaining. This is one of the best meals I have ever had at this pack. I finished lunch and decided to go take a look at the skincare stuff and makeup. I should probably learn something about it. I read all the directions on the skincare, and it looks like I have a morning and night routine all set up here. I separated it and decided I will do the night routine tonight and see how my skin feels. I look over at the bath tub again. I do have the time since I am no longer doing chores all day… I go out and pick a book from the shelves in the bedroom and head back in to fill the tub. I taught myself to read when I was little, and I used to sneak books into my room from the library when I would clean there. Reading is one of the few things that relaxes me. I found a nice little table that looked like it could go over the tub, so I set it up and grabbed some water from the fridge in the room and waited for the tub to finish filling up. I added some bath oils and bubble bath so it smells heavenly here. And it should be very relaxing. Something I am really looking forward to. After the tub is full, I shut off the faucets and get in, I settle in and it feels heavenly. I open up the book and sit back to relax while I am reading. I have at least five hours until dinner and I have plenty of snacks in the fridge if I get hungry. I startled awake, and I am still in the bath. The water is cold now, I guess I am still exhausted. I was only there for forty-five minutes though, so not too bad. I get out and wrap myself in the robe again and drain the tub. Back in the room, I decided to settle back into bed with some chips and my book. At least if I fall asleep here, I won't run the risk of drowning myself. Just as I finished settling into the soft bed, I hear a knock at the door, “Come in?” In walks one of the nurses from the hospital, and she has a little jar with her. “I was told to come and apply this cream to your back for silver wound scars.” I nod and stand up, “Where would you like me?” “Just go ahead and sit on the couch here, if you wouldn’t mind removing the robe so I can get to your whole back please.” I am stunned, no one has ever said please to me before or talked to me nicely. I stare at her for a moment, then do as I was asked. I sit on the couch with my bare back facing the nurse, and she sits behind me and gently rubs the cream from the jar onto my scars, “I haven’t seen you before, how long have you been in the pack?” I tensed a little, no one talks to me really, so this is a first, softly I reply, “My whole life, I was found by the gates as a baby and the alpha family took me in.” “I see. Then, why have I never seen you? I know I am new to the pack since I moved here with my mate, but I would think I would have seen you at some point. These scars are quite old and inflicted by silver. What happened?” “I would rather not talk about it please…” She gets quiet for a moment. “I understand. I hope you get peace and happiness where you are going dear. I don’t know what happened to you, but you seem like a very sweet girl who deserves all the happiness life can bring. I will be back after dinner to apply the cream again. In the meantime, get some rest.” She pats my hand and heads out. I started crying softly. No one has ever been that nice or cared about me before. I hope she doesn’t get into any trouble. They might have listening devices in here or the guards might be able to hear what is being said in the room. I don’t want that kind nurse to be punished for caring about me… I guess I will do what she said though. I head back to the bed and get comfortable under the covers. I will miss this bed when I leave here. Maybe I will get lucky and have a bed even more comfortable than this in the kingdom. I doubt it though.
