Combative training is too easy

Hand in hand, we walked to the training field.

This was the only place on campus where we were allowed to use our animal powers among other fighting techniques teaching us.

This was one of the classes that I was particularly good at. It is the only place where me being a wolf hybrid is an advantage. At the moment, I was the strongest in my class. Another thing that displeased the Cliffwinds and James... James especially. He really hated the fact that his ape was no match for my wolf, and he was not particularly skilled at other fighting techniques also, so it made him very uncomfortable. This was yet another sore subject in our relationship.

"Vivian, help me show the class the new moves we are going to be doing today."

The teacher called me to the front as usual. She used me to show the moves we were going to be learning today. As she was explaining to the class what we were about to do, I saw James approach Lucien.

Hmm... well this will be interesting...

"You know that she is only using you to make me jealous?"

I listened to James talk to Lucien as I showed the class the proper defense moves for the attacks we were going to train for today.

"You see we have been engaged for the last year and I chose her sister over her, and now she is trying to get me back. Not that I would take a nobody like her back. She is a poor excuse for a mate, so rough and unladylike."

"Why are you talking to me, monkey? I have no interest in your bullshit. Now go away, I'm watching my mate fight. And if you insult her one more time, I will make you eat your words."

"Ha, what a weakling like you could do to me? Is that why you let that beast woman lure into mating you? So she would protect a weak little puppy like you."

A dark growl filled the silent room. At that moment, the teacher let me return to my place and I jumped off the fighting stage next to Lucien.

"What? Did you come here to beg for me to take it easy on your little toy?"

I couldn't help myself when I busted out laughing at his ridiculous claims.

"You should be the one apologizing to him and begin for him to show you mercy."

My answer confused James, as the teacher looked for volunteers to be the first ones to try the new move.

"Me and the monkey will go first."

Lucien said, grabbing James by the shoulder and throwing him on the stage.

"Love the enthusiasm. Remember, no killing or permanent damage."

The teacher said as she moved to the side of the stage.

Lucien turned to me and kissed me on the cheek, after he walked in the direction of the fighting stage. James walked right after him.

To me, there was no question who was going to win. I would be surprised if James lasted more than a few moments in the ring against Lucien.

“As you are new here, I will let you attack first.”

James said with a mocking undertone in his voice. So sure of himself.

I could not help myself but smirk at the scene that was going to unfold in font of me.

James stood on one side and took the usual fighting position, signaling for Lucien to begin. I could not help myself as my eyes traveled to Lucien. He looked relaxed and completely confident. Not in the same show-off way that James did, but it was clear that he was not nervous at all… maybe a bit pissed, but not nervous at all.

Now standing here I could admire the lean power of his body. Our academies uniform never looked so good. The way it hugged his ass… I wanted to run my hand over those luscious curves…

Shit… was that even my thoughts?

What's wrong with me?

I felt a slick hand land on my shoulder and Michael leaned into my ear and whispered.

"You know he will fight dirty because he is pissed at you. If you ask me nicely, I will step in and stop him before he kills your new boy toy."

I pushed his hands off my shoulder and answered him.

"You better get ready to take your friend to the nurses."

Not a second latter, a loud bang filled the room. The crowd around us released a loud sigh of surprise. Everyone was too stunned to speak.

Michael looked at me stunned when Lucien jumped off the stage and landed right next to me.

"Take your hands off my mate, and if I see you touch her again, I will not be as nice and civil as I had been with your friend. Now go and take your little friend to the doctor."

Michael's eyes turned to the stage and saw James on the ground next to the wall he flew into after Lucien hit him.

"I tried to hit him lightly, so he wouldn't die... but he was so weak, he didn't even manage to take one punch. What a weak excuse for a hybrid. Your combat training is way too easy."

Micheal said nothing as his terrified eyes looked Lucien up and down a few times as he made his way to the other side of the room to do as he was told.

"You are not mad at me, are you? I ignored him as best as I could, but he couldn't take the hint and wouldn't leave me alone."

I turned to him and smiled while shaking my head.

"It's fine, he needed to be put in place, but try not to get into more fights."

His sad puppy eyes changed instantly.

"Of course, my darling. Whatever you ask, mate."

"And please stop calling me your mate in public. We agreed to wait after your heat to discuss this. We don't need everyone to think that we are already mated."

As I said, my fingers traced the bite mark he left on my neck the first time we met. I have been wearing turtlenecks to hide the mark ever since.

"But... but you said to mother that you liked my scent... and I like you a lot... I don't see why can't we just mate. I know that you are meant for me."

Suddenly feeling very tired because of this, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. He is persistent, if not anything else.

"Please? We already talked about this so many times... can you please wait until your heat ends. If, after then, you still want to mate... I guess we can do that..."

A smile as bright as the whole galaxy shined on his face.

"Okay, my darling. I will wait... I will wait as long as I need to."

Gods, he is too adorable for his own good.

"Come on, class for today is over."

Together we walked back to my dorms.

"Where are you staying tonight? Did you get a dorm room or are you flying home?"

I asked him and checked to see if there was any news of the auction. I saw a message that Hades plans were sold for ten times more than asked for, and the money is already spread through my accounts.

Great.

Taking a deep breath, I sent the money I owed and then some to the Cliffwinds . A second later, I received a text from Sarah.

“Take the money back, Vivian, and come home.

And where did you get the money from? Did you do something so stupid?

All these years of rising you and that is how you repay us.”

I did not want to hear any more of this, the blaming and guilt-tripping me would start soon, and I was not in the mood to deal with that.

I blocked Sarah and turned to Lucien, who had been extremely quiet these past few minutes. His cheeks were bright red as he looked at the ground.

"Ummm... I was thinking that I would stay with you..."

Of course, he did... why did I even bother asking him?

"You know that I'm not allowed overnight guests, right? If you get caught in my room, I will get in trouble."

My words made Lucien roll his eyes.

"Don't worry, if you get kicked out, I will pay for a nice apartment where you can live... wait, I can pay for a nice apartment which you can live in now, without you getting kicked out. I want my mate to live comfortably and surrounded in luxury."

I stopped him and shook my head.

"I do not need an apartment, my dorm room is fine and even if I did want to live off campus I am more than capable of paying for my own housing."

He chuckled at my words and kissed my cheeks.

"I love it when you get feisty like that."

Together we walked to my dorms only to see Margaret standing next to my room door.
