Vivian
For a moment I contemplated ignoring her, in hopes that she would just disappear... but I knew that I would not be that lucky.
"What do you want?"
I asked the sneaky b***h that was eating away at Lucien, who was standing next to me.
"Hello, Vivian. I came to apologize. Please, I did not mean to use your tablet, I was telling the truth. Mother is hurting because of you leaving. Come home, please, I will do anything."
"Stop the acting. We both know that you are lying, and I won't be returning. That is no longer my home. Now leave, before I have the security force you to leave."
Ignoring her, I reached to open my door and walked inside. Leaving the door open for Lucien, while hoping that she would take the message and leave.
But, of course, it is too much to ask.
Putting her usual clueless mask on, she turned her charms on to Lucien. She did the same thing with everyone, but none seemed to notice how fake it was. They all fell for her charm and became putty in her hands. Open for her to do whatever she wanted with them.
"Hi, I'm Margaret Cliffwind ."
Shining him a bright smile, she extended her hand, but Lucien just stared at her hand with a confused look on his face that turned into an annoyed one.
Interesting...
"And I should care why? Haven't you heard what Vivian said? Leave or the security will kick you out."
He stepped into the room and closed the door right into the other woman's face.
It was quite hilarious to see the shocked face of the other woman. I'm sure that is the first time someone has shown her this sort of reaction, and she was not expecting it. Sure, I know that Lucien reacted to her like that because of his heat. At the moment, he was feeling a little overprotective over me, just because we spent time together and his heat-driven brain thinks that I am carrying his child, so he naturally would naturally see everyone as a threat. That is why his bodyguard was left to stand outside my room, Lucien's instructions, not mine... well, okay, It was more like a threat than instructions, but Richard knew why Lucien was acting this way, so he was completely fine waiting outside. I actually think he was terrified of him, and it was completely understandable. If the rumors about the emperor's son were true, his fox was special. It was a very rare nine-tailed fox, hens why everyone calls him the ninth.
He was so strong and rare that none really knew what the limits were to his power.
I always thought that all this talk was just old wives tales or people trying to suck up to the next ruler, but now that I met him... I saw some of his power up close... felt his fox when we had s*x the first day we met... I am sure he is just as powerful as everyone says he is. Sure, James was not the strongest fighter there is, but still... Lucien swathed him like a mosquito. Later, he said that he tried very hard not to hurt the other man.
The sound of Lucien's phone ringing filled the room.
"Darling, I'm sorry, but I have to go. I will return in a few hours."
It was quite adorable to see him this sad about such a silly little thing. I could not help but chuckle at his sad face.
"You are free to go as you please, Lucien. You are the one that insists on staying here."
I said calmly as I picked up my tablet, so I could check on the tasks I had to do for school.
"But I want to be with you... I don't want to be away for too long."
He said to me, sounding like he was about to cry.
"Well, I'm going to the library to study for a few hours, so do not worry. It would be very boring for you if you came with me."
I offered him a kind smile and, as if he had no other choice, he returned it.
"Okay, I will wait for you here when I return. See you soon, my darling."
Watching him rush out of the room, I grabbed my tablet again and made the list of things I had to do. I also checked what extra credit stuff I could do, so I could graduate faster.
There were a few theoretical classes that I could take, but the major part of this course is practical parts that can not be taken ahead. Studying to be a spacecraft pilot was not something the Cliffwinds approved of, they expected me to choose something humanitarian or medical, but I really had no wish to do any of those things. It took a lot of negotiation, but they gave in. Mostly because John pressured them into agreeing, but I still got to study something I loved, so it did not bother me that it only happened because John forced them to let. I was not studying to become a pencil pusher, where I would have to spend the rest of my life doing something I hated, and I was happy about it.
While gathering my stuff, I booked myself a table for a few hours, happy that I could get some work done without a certain little silver-haired distraction. For some reason, I was sure that he would find a way either to distract me or find trouble, so I was revealed to hear that he would be busy.
Spending three hours on nothing else other than learning the structure of a spacecraft engine would be hell for most, but it was the most fun I have had in a while. As the time I had booked came to an end, I gathered my stuff and made my way back to the dorms. I was feeling really good about the work I had accomplished in such a short time and, for the first time in days, I felt kinda good... well, until I saw two women standing in front of my dorm building. Two very pissed-looking women who were staring at me with the intent of killing me. Great, so I guess I have to deal with them now. It's not like I can ignore
them.
"Baroness, Emily, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
James's mother and sister never liked me. They tolerated me being engaged to James, because of the status marrying me would give him. Cliffwind's name and status were the only reason they ever let him talk to me in the first place. And the dislike was both sides.
"Want to explain why pictures of you with some boys are posted all over the internet, you little w***e?"
Asked Baroness and her daughter added a second later.
"And why did the same boy hurt my brother? Not only did you disrespect him by cheating on him, but you also had your new toy hurt him physically? I guess you can teach street trash to be respectful and proper, no matter how much money you throw at it."
If I cared about their opinion about me, their words might have hurt a little.
Before I could answer their accusations, Baroness started again.
"I will not let this stand, I will call the Cliffwinds ."
"And they will do nothing. I no longer have any connections to the Cliffwinds , so talking with them will do you no good. Your son was the first to cheat on me, so I don't see why this is a problem. And Baroness, you should not be one to talk about being faithful."
The last part was meant to hurt the older woman's pride. The whole capital knew that the Baroness was never faithful to her husband, and everyone questioned the legitimacy of her children. I could see that my words were like a physical slap across her face, making her take a tiny step back.
