The end of the heat

Vivian "And as for him being beat up, he was the one to start it. It happened during class, and I don't see why this is a problem. He accepted a challenge and failed to defeat his opponent. It is part of the course. Now, if you both excuse me, I have somewhere to be." They stood shocked for a second. Me talking back to them was not a normal occurrence. For Cliffwind's sake, I stayed quiet and never talked back to them, but now that I had nothing holding me back, I could answer them just like I wanted for years. "You ungrateful piece of trash, now that the Cliffwind's dropped you, there is no one to protect you. I will make sure that the school board knows about this. This academy is not a place for charity cases like you." Well, it was only a question of time until someone used this card. Now that the Cliffwinds and I were separated, there are a lot of people that could voice their dislike of me being here, because at the end of the day I was not of royal blood. Ever since I was adopted, there have been a lot of families that did not let their children interact with me, scared that I would taint their little perfect royal blood angels with my commoner ways. The Cliffwind's made sure that everyone knew that treating me like that was not okay. That if they want to have any sort of relationship with them, I will have to be treated like part of the upper society, no matter how much they want for it to be another way. So, for the most part, especially in public, everyone treated me like a true royal blood, but behind my back... well, that was a different story. Most were not very subtle while expressing their opinions. This was not a fight I could win with words or physical violence. No matter how much I wanted to slap the s**t out of the woman who was screaming at me. No, it will only prove their opinion about me, that I was indeed a violent piece of trash. That is one of the things that Cliffwind's taught me. These battles can only be won while fighting on their level and, thanks to Sarah Cliffwind , I was a master at fighting like this. I ignored the two women that were screaming at me and made my way inside. They wanted a reaction out of me, and I would not give it to them. I will not show them the satisfaction of proving them right... Instead, I will make an effort to be a few steps ahead of them. I pulled out my phone and made a donation to the university. The sum was big enough to get the school board's attention. A moment later, I received a message from the dean. The university thanks the Cliffwind's for their kindness. This donation is not from the Cliffwinds . As of yesterday, I no longer have any connection to the Cliffwinds . This is a donation from me and me alone. Are you sure you want to donate such a big amount of money, especially now that you no longer have Cliffwind's protection, miss Vivian? I'm sure I have my own money and I want to share it. Also, I know that you have siblings that are about to start school. I'm sure you can make good use of this money. Well, then thank you for your generosity, Miss Vivian. Please let me know if there is anything you need. Looking at my phone, I chuckled, Sarah would be proud of me. Now it's your move, Baroness. There are very few things that talk louder than star coin. Happy with my little win, I made my way to my room. To my surprise, Richard was already there. He gave me a little respectable bow as I passed by him and entered my room. Lucien was already inside, happily lying on my bed, his face buried in my pillow. "Want to tell me how you got into my room?" "Your security system is very lacking. I sent a request to my personal security team to improve it. They will do it tomorrow." "You do know that this counts as breaking and entering?" "Not really, you are my mate to be. I just moved along in our relationship a bit faster." "Uhmm... and why is half of my closet filled with clothes that do not belong to me?" Through the open door to my walk-in closet I saw that most of my clothes had been neatly stacked to the side and there was a bunch of dark-colored expensive looking clothes hung next to mine. "Umm... just moving along the relationship. As we are to mate, it would be silly for me to look for a place to live, especially because this is a two-person room. I made arrangements with the university, and they let me stay with you, due to our particular situation." I stood there with my eyes closed, because I was not sure what I would do to him if I looked at him right now. A big part of me wanted to strangle him, because he did the opposite of what we talked about, but a smaller part of me thought that that was so sweet. He was so sure of liking me, as in me, as a hybrid. He did not care about the Cliffwind name or what it would give me... just me... and it felt nice. So I might do something stupid like kiss him. Taking a deep breath, I calmed down and sat down on the bed next to him. A moment later, he climbed out of bed and kneeled in front of me. His head landed on my lap as he whispered. "Are... are you angry with me?" He whispered and from the little shiver in his voice I was sure that he was seconds away from crying. "I'm not mad at you... it's just you are rushing into this and tomorrow or whenever your heat ends you will not feel the same..." "But I will remember everything. I will not be angry with you." "Yeah... but I don't want to get too attached to you." He looked up at me, and I was sure that I could see the whole galaxy in his eyes. "You... you like me? Like, like like me?" I couldn't help but chuckle at his adorable reaction. "I wouldn't go as far as like like, but I do enjoy your company." The smile on his face blinded me a bit. Like the over-excited puppy he was right now, he jumped up and tackled me to the bed, while laying kisses all over my face. "You like me..." Chuckling at his adorable reaction, I pulled him to lay next to me and I pulled him to my neck. "I guess I do, now it is time to sleep. We both had a long day and I have classes early tomorrow." "Okay." He snuggled closer to me as my hands found their way to his hair. I couldn't help but let my fingers tangle in the soft silver strands. A few seconds later he was out, his breathing slowly evening out as he relaxed. Sleep did not come so easy to me... mostly because I felt the sudden changes in his scent. Bit by bit, the pheromones in his scent faded away, and I knew that his heat ended. This means that the version that I got to know is now gone, up until the next heat. As the sun started to rise, I felt his body stir. I let my hands fall from his hair, while I pretended to be asleep. Slowly, I felt him climb out of bed and release a little curse. Quietly, he stormed out of the room and I let my eyes open. So I guess that is the end of this. I reached for my phone and sent him a short text, telling him that it was nice meeting him and that I will be filling for the annulment. It would be great if he could sign it as soon as possible and we could put it behinds us, so we could move on with our lives.
