"Hey mom, you OK? should we stop and get something to eat and stretch our legs a little?" My mother glanced my way and looked back at the road ahead smiling. "I thought you never ask hunny. That's a fantastic idea!" she pulled over and took her phone off the clip and used the map to find the nearest diner. the closest one to us was Maggie Dinner. My mom hit the reroute button to Maggie's, and we started driving again. Mom, how come nothing comes up when you surch the Blackstones? If they are an elite bunch, don't you think their would be some information or pictures? She laughed at me Lilly it's just a made-up legend, nothing to stress over. just like all the other legends out there. yeah, but legends come from some truth mom, someone had to tell the story something has be to be recorded not even the new generation is on the web. She didn't pay me any mind after her comment. I decided to look at my surroundings it was nearly dusk out the sun was slowly setting in the distance, I opened my window and smelled the fresh air, the trees that lined both sides of the road looked perfect it brought a sense of comfort and calmness. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes, thinking about the story. I must have dozed off cause next thing I knew. My mom was gently shaking me, telling me to wake up that we arrived at the diner. I ran my hands down my face and opened my eyes and took a big stretch. the diner was set right off the side off the road it was not a big city dinner it was a small barn looking dinner that said Maggie Dinner in script with pretty white Hydraneous at each end of the stairs. I must say it was a welcoming sight to see. We headed inside, and a little bell went off, and a young girl came over and showed us to our table. I must say, the place was kinda busy for a small diner in the middle of nowhere. Sally will be right with you lady to take your order she handed us a the menu. an walked away. the inside of the place was well lit and very clean, the room smelled of all kinds of food and baked good my stomach started to rumble. I looked down at my stomach and at my mom to see if she noticed, and she most certainly did, and we both started laughing. we continued to look over the menu. I decided I was going to get a burger, and my mom decided she wanted two eggs over easy with a side of cornbeef hash. "Hi Lady's I'm Sally. What can I get for yall?" we told Sally our order, and she went back to our conversation. my mom talked about how she will be working at the hospital in town, an how she hopes that she can find a nice small house near by to my aunts house since my aunt is not a spring chicken as my mother calls it. I told my mom my plans of looking for a secretary job. I wasn't in college cause I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with myself. my mother thought a fresh start in a new town would help me decide. she didn't want to force me to go to college and waste the money on something I may never use. as we continued our conversation, Sally started walking over with our food. It smelled delicious and looked apatizing. she places the plants in front of us and is waiting for us to approve. Thank you, Sally it looks and smells delicious! my mother said I smiled up at Sally she was a nice-looking older woman, and she had to be in her mid fortys if I had to take a guess. her smile was big, and it lit her eyes when we approve of the food. well, I'll let ya get to it. if yall need anything, just holler an ill come right over. she walked away and we started eating me and my mother couldn't believe how delicious the food is my burger was made to perfect. my mom devoured her food she must have been starving. I took my time eating my burger and noticed Sally coming over to our table again with another cup of coffee for my mom. so ladies, where yall heading? my mom looks at Sally and responds that we are heading to my hometown. Sally smiled, "Oh really, which town are you from? we are about the same age. I'm from Witch's Creek. What about you, Sally's face? fell a little at my mother's response. Oh, I'm not too far off from yall. I live the town before duskwood Falls. where have I heard that name before? now I'm trying to rack my brain on where I heard of that town. My mother looked at her watch an said to me.if we don't get on the road now it will be pitch black heading into the towns they offer very little light most of the roads a narrow so I like to head out now Sally was still standing there an I couldn't help myself but ask hey Sally what do you know about the legend of the Blackstones? Sally whole demner changed an she spoke very fast and in a hushed voice. we don't speak about that family. I nodded my head in understanding, and she left with the money.
