Chapter One
"In a time like this, I can barely imagine when the time shall be. Like the four corners of a room, I run round them and stable at none. Someone is living my life. My life is for rent and still hard for me to find the one who purchased it. How much did I sell it? How much did I collect? I stood with many and get nothing, " Stowe lived in thought silently. His thought climbed. "I wish I can be like the wind. Come around and in a minimal duration, go away without trace, " he looked upward. An ancient buddy sighted him farther and whistled. "Yo, Stowe. Won't you give response to my call? I know you can hear me! Wait, buddy. I got something for you! It will suit your interest. Just wait, " Torres was concerned. Stowe exhaled and waited. "Uh, this buddy again, " he regretted to meet him. He counted few steps behind a car and leaned on it. Torres jogged and met him. He raised an eye on him. He lashed him. "Come on, do not give me that look. Show some respect because I know you got one, " he demanded. "Come on, man. Let the sin of the past run with yesterday. Today give me something better for you, " Torres moved him closer. "Whatever today save in your hands is for you. I exempt myself. I got to go, " Stowe attempted to move. "Hey, not time to say goodbye. Allow me tell something to you, " Torres pleaded and hindered. "How long will it last?" Stowe verified. "Actually, I can't count. My pocket is void of currency to purchase some time. All I know is, it won't be much of your time. I promise, I won't have it, " Torres convinced. "You got my attention. Speak in few minutes. Don't forget, you are on borrowed time, " Stowe reminded. "I got you a buyer, " Torres opened up. Stowe grabbed him and locked his neck. "Don't pen me that fallacy! Are you for real?" Stowe threatened for confirmation. Torres nodded. He released him. He glanced on him with different thought born in him. "Don't offer that Mephistophelean glimpse, I hate it. It will benefit you a lot, " Torres assured. Stowe sinked him off sight to a local bar. They stood antonymous and voted silence into power. "That seat is yours, use it or I do my wish. The choice depends on you, " Stowe watched Torres delayed for few minutes. "Should I make the choice? Give me straight answer, " Stowe waited. Torres held the handle of the chair and adjusted backward. He sat slowly reading the writing of his next action. "How do I play this out?" Torres forced him to talk. "Let's play it your way. I am seated here because of you. You are the host, " Stowe told. "You want a drink? Make an order and read the bill on me, " Torres intended to calm him. "What I am here for is an interest to me, " Stowe disappointed. "Like I uttered earlier, I got you a buyer. Do you want the deal or not?" Torres paused. "I need revelation of the buyer, " Stowe requested. "Dude, I met him in my girlfriend's office. He is a publisher and in search of an author to instigate with. Afterward brief introduction, I got to know the dude is hungry to purchase adventure novels to reach his readers online all over. Instantaneously, I inserted you in the picture. Along side our interaction, I nailed it on his head. He took the bait without delay. I have his contact. I depend on you for the go ahead. Are you in or your legs are not fully in?" Torres revealed. Stowe lashed the table twice. He pointed a finger at him and erected on his feet. "Are you trying to trap me in your cage or this is just some kiddies game?" Stowe boiled in anger. "Boy, take the seat. I left the kids when I was older than their age. Come on, this is not some kind of joke, okay?" Torres doubled assurance. "Before one word I should say, I like a drink, " Stowe thirsts. Torres made an order. Few bottles were seated on the table. He rushed them and requested for more. Torres turned a suspicious glance at him. Stowe freezed on the fourth bottle as he noticed. "What?" Stowe breathed heavily. "Nothing but I think you should take the bottles bit by bit so you don't become drunk hastily, " Torres advised. "I know what I'm doing. What matters now is the good news you brought and never the bottles you bought, " Stowe sipped. Torres shook his head. "Crazy you, " he joked. "This is not the first time. After this bottle, you gonna call him and sign up a date. Do you mind?" Stowe instructed. "I will do that for us, " Torres promised. Stowe belched. Torres dialled Gerry's contact and began conversing. Stowe grabbed a bottle and shook. He smashed it on the wall angrily. "s**t! It is empty!" he shouted. Torres conclusively agreed on a Wednesday noontide. He ordered for double bottle. Stowe freezed and held his hand. An attendant came with the bottles. Stowe looked on her. "What you got there?" he waited. "The drink you ordered, sir, " she answered. "I... I... I am not convince to consume those. Take them back, please, " Stowe rejected. Torres watched her detached. "What was that? That attitude you just displayed is unprecedented. You are weird to me, " Torres confessed. Tears drove down his cheek. Torres dropped the money on the table and took a tour with him. "What's wrong?" Torres was surprised. "For twenty years of my life I have been a writer. You are the first buddy that is fighting hard for me to... " distraction owned his mind. A cab was about driving away. Torres halted it. They went in. "Thank you for helping me succeed is all I can say, " Stowe tendered gratitude. "Stowe, you owe me no thanks. I have learnt so much in my life that even if I fight to gain nothing, I rather fight for the man beside me to reach the top, because without someone climbing the ladder, the ladder will never tell its worth, " Torres educated. "So what's next?" Stowe wanted to know his stand. "The hook has been baited. It falls beneath your command to use that day, " Torres declared. "Once again, thanks. I owe you a lot. I fervently pray... " "Sh. Wait for it. That is what I pray, " Torres earnestly wished. The cab parked at a junction. They came out. "Where is this we have reached?" Stowe was lost. "Please, pardon me. I should have let you know. I seize you to stay with me in my home. I can not let you go home alone, " Torres swore. "Sometimes I halt and debrief myself. Couple of times I tried to find response but myself alone I find. The glance on my face is blindingly much outdated. If I am to tell the tale, who is around to offer an ear while I am still tender? I grew up in this hood with this hood on my head, yet, none ever came around like this, " Stowe travelled deep. "Time to go. Are you paranoid at what i did?" Torres was sorry inward. "I am not against that, okay? You did well, " Stowe came out. They crossed the road and walked in the street. Five structure behind, they stood at the gate of the sixth edifice. Stowe's cell-phone beeped. He gave no attention. Another beep, Torres called his attention to it and opened the door. "Come inn. You are most welcome, " Torres permitted. He went inn and unlocked the phone. "I am waiting at the door way. Come open for me, please, " his girlfriend, Tess texted. He sighed. "Coincidence!" Stowe was amazed. "What is that?" Torres was willing to know. "Tess is standing at the entrance of my house and want me come open the door. Is it not hilarious?" Stowe replied with a text. Tess's cell-phone beeped. She took a glance. "Sorry, darling. I am not at home. I will call when I'm back to the house, love you much, " she read. She shook her head. "It's a bad day, " she instigated a step. She climbed down the steps and waited at the bank of the road. "What are you gonna do now?" Torres was concerned. "Nothing much, I guess. Unfortunately today is not her day, " Stowe reluctantly voiced. A motorcycle parked beside her with a long horn. She turned her face to another direction. Samantha took off her helmet. "Hey, lady. I wanna give you a ride. You may know me if you turn, " Samantha revealed. Tess turned a look. "Samantha!" Tess shouted. They fell on each other's neck. "You are so crazy, " Tess joked. "I sure know that. Where are your feet travelling to?" Samantha was ready to drive. "I came to my boyfriend but I met the wind, " Tess stood comfortable. "So, it's my turn to host you. Dare not to say no because nothing is gonna change my mind from taking you to my house, " Samantha insisted. "Okay, have your way. By the way, where were you descending from?" Tess accepted. "I was bored at home. I decisively went for a tour with my ride. Enough, lady. Let's roll, " Samantha sat on the motorcycle. She put on helmet and give the other to Tess. She put the engine awake and zoomed. Torres played few videos connected from his cell phone to the Tv. "I like this musical videos. You are indeed a pro. Keep the game alive, man, " Stowe commented. Torres played more. Stowe kipped off along the line. The next turn on him, " this dude is in the hands of the night. Good night, buddy. " He hurried to the bedroom and returned with a blanket. He wrapped him and put off the TV. He went into the bedroom and fell on the bed leaving the door open. Samantha came out of the shower. "You are still on this film. Not ready to rest the eyes?" she sort a means for her to rest. "Uh, Samantha. Not even in the next hour. The tale is captivating and I am not ready to drop at the next bus-stop, " Tess paid absolute attention. Samantha shook her head. "In that case, my eyes are not ready to see the other side. I need a dress to come sit with you. Excuse me, " Samantha left for a moment. Tess turned at her and smiled. As the action grew intensely, Samantha returned with slow steps and scary sound. Tess screamed.
