Monica’s saboteur tapped her champagne glass nervously. The music that had been softly playing as background noise was about to come to a stop. Then, the evening’s host would walk up the staircase four or five steps – just enough to be able to be seen by all those in attendance – and announce the Gala’s official start. It was almost time for the special entertainment she’d planned for everyone to happen.
