CHAPTER-13

1398 Words
ALEX'S POV, I woke up from an unusually happy dream today. In my dream, I saw Emily. She was playing with my wolf, under the bright moonlight. She looked exceptionally happy. And I was happy with her, too. “You are finally here. I have been waiting for you for like a lifetime. Now that I have found you, you can't leave me.” I said to her while hugging. I kissed her too. I wonder what it’ll be like to really kiss her… We were both so happy in that dream that I didn’t want to wake up. I pray to the moon goddess for that dream to come true as soon as possible. I can't wait to tell her how much I love her, and I’ll keep loving her for the rest of my life. But my happy morning was short-lived, as reality intruded. I saw Ian’s text, “Call me as soon as you wake up.” I called him, and he picked up the call right as it went through. “Ian, what’s wrong?” “I found a track of Xavier. He was seen at our pack border with someone wearing a black hoodie. But before we could get to him, he disappeared.” “I’ll be in the pack house in 40 minutes. Add more guards here for Emily. I have a terrible feeling about him coming out of his rathole right after I announced finding my mate.” “Okay.” Ian replied. But me finding my mate is confidential information, there is a mole within the pack. I have to find out who before they find out who my mate is. I am pissed that such a good morning, with a good dream, was ruined by that villain. I got ready and left for my pack house. I strode directly to my office, where Ian was waiting for me. I settled into my chair, Ian prepared to report to me the events that had happened in my absence, each word promising to pull me further from the fleeting warmth of my dream. “That guy was seen with a suspicious person. We detected them in one of our CCTV cameras. They were there for about 10 minutes, they were spotted entering and leaving, and they seemed like they were waiting for someone. I think they met the person while they were out of sight of the camera. We still couldn’t figure out who that person is.” He said, While listening, I was seething with anger. Xavier came so close, yet we lost him. I am sure they were here to meet the mole. I have to cook up a plan to catch that traitor. After my tense conversation with Ian, I left his office and headed toward my room, pushing aside the worry to focus on what needed to be done next. The packed house has three floors. First floor for the alpha’s office, a big dining area, a gaming area, a gym, a place for occasional get-togethers, parties, and an open place for all the pack members. The second floor is for my beta and gamma and their families. They can choose to live here or live on the pack grounds. Grover and Ian live in the pack house. The third floor is the alpha floor. No one is allowed here except for Alpha, Luna, and their kids. There are 3 rooms, a personal kitchen, a gaming room, and a small movie theater on this floor. My color scheme was always gray, black, or white, my floor had only these colors. So I am about to start renovations on this floor, except for my office. The last time I went inside Emily’s apartment, though it was night, I could see she likes light colors, and her furniture is all modern design. That’s why I am renovating the entire floor to her liking. I hope she likes them. And if she doesn’t, she can always change things she doesn’t like. I am short of anything but money after all. She can spend my money on whatever she wants, she can even light a fire with it. I went to the same café where I could see her. It felt like I was stalking her. Um… in a way, I am stalking her. I see her working, and I can see from her face that she likes her job. Throughout the day, people come and go with their pets or rescued animals. She treats them if needed, she keeps them for a day or two, or sends them off with their owners. From what I saw for the last few days, she likes cats more than anything. She likes and treats all kinds of animals, but she has a soft spot for cats. I hope that she likes wolves too, just like in my dreams. Especially Lex. “Of course, she will like me. No, she will love me. Just let me meet her.” Lex said in my head with a huff. “Yeah! But I am telling you she is going to like me more than anything. Just you see.” I replied with a smirk. I saw her taking a rest after working for so long. Then she scoops out her phone and holds it to her ear. She heard something, and a smile spread across her face. She seemed excited. After the day ended and it was time for her to go home, I deliberately went to her and offered her a ride. This time, she got in without much thought, maybe she started to trust me and see me in a positive light. We had small talks while I was driving. Then I heard the sound of her hunger coming from her stomach. A chuckle left my mouth. Her cheeks became red because of the embracement. “Should we eat together again today?” I asked. “No, it's fine, you are tired from working all day too. I’ll order something at home.” She said with a shy smile. “I am hungry too. So let's eat. I don’t quite like eating alone.” I said with a smile. Then she nodded. I took her to the restaurant. I should say my restaurant. Others need to stand in line just to get a reservation here. Last time, while I was eavesdropping on her, I heard her saying she wanted to eat here, but couldn’t get a reservation. But with me here, she will never need to wait for anything. As long as she wants something, she will get it. Maybe I should just write the restaurant in her name. Then I scooped out my phone and sent Ian a quick text to handle the paperwork. When we reached, she saw the name on the board and said, "Doesn't this one need a reservation?" “It does. But it’s my restaurant. So I don’t need a reservation. They always keep my table free.” She nodded. And we headed in. The manager came to greet us and led us to my table. But then someone called Emily from behind. She turned, and when she saw the person, her expression turned sour. Then I saw who it was, it was none other than that crappy ex of hers. He was with a girl. But when he saw Emily, he left the girl and ran towards her and tried to explain who she was. “I am not interested.” was written on Emily’s face. She told him to get lost. But he wasn’t budging. Then his eyes fell on me. And he became hysterical. He kept asking her to forgive him and give him a chance. “Should we ask people to throw him out?” “Can we do that? If we can, then please. I’ll be grateful.” I asked the manager to throw him out, and he was banned from all of my restaurants. When the security dragged him away, he was still calling Emily’s name like a mad dog barking. “Sorry for the commotion. He has been pestering me even after we broke up.” “No need to apologize, Emily. He is not worth your apologizing.” After that, we ordered all the chef's specials, and we enjoyed our food while talking and laughing. After dinner, I drove her home…
