ALPHA'S MATE

CHAPTER-09

ALEX'S POV,

I started the day as planned and got to see her in the morning. I knew she had a white car, but I wanted to spend some time with her.

Ian came by in the early morning saying he wanted to see their luna, and stayed for breakfast.

Then Ian gave me the brilliant idea to puncture her tyres.

But I could tell she really loved her car. I was contemplating whether I should go with his idea or not, but I also wanted to spend time with her.

So I sent Ian for this.

If she ever finds out, I can shift the blame to Ian.

When she came out of the apartment, I heard it with my werewolf hearing and went after her.

She looked pretty today too. She always looks pretty.

She wore a lavender, full-sleeved top and a black, knee-length skirt, with her hair tied up in a messy bun.

She looked like a fairy on earth, I couldn't take my eyes off her.

We had a brief conversation before heading to our respective rides. I knew she couldn't use her car today, so she will either go by taxi or a bus.

I waited for her to choose either. She tried getting a taxi on her phone, but she failed.

Then she went to wait for the bus at the bus stop.

And I drove to her and started a conversation with her, “What happened to your ride?"

"My tyre needs changing, and there are no taxis available, so I am here waiting for the bus." She replied.

"Let me drop you off. It’s on my way."

Confusion clear on her face it took me a few minutes to figure out the reason.

Then it strikes me, she never told me where her clinic is.

So I made up some excuse, but I don’t believe that dispelled her confusion fully.

All I can hope for is that she doesn't think of me as a stalker, although I am keeping a close eye on her.

But that’s all for her safety. Though only a few trusted people know about her right now. But I still cannot bear to take any chances with her safety.

During the ride mostly I talked, she gave me short answers and replies.

After reaching her clinic, she got out of the car and thanked me for the ride.

After dropping her off and saying goodbye, I took a detour to the same cafe I visited the other day and watched her work.

In the afternoon, I received a call from one of my informants informing me that my most dangerous enemy has been lurking around the apartment complex.

No matter what kind of trap I set for him, he always escapes.

Sometimes it feels like he somehow planted a bug in my head. He can hear my every thought.

I know that is impossible. He had to have someone give him information about my moves.

But right now, I think what I feared the most happened.

I think he discovered that I found my mate.

He is here to destroy my life. Once again.

I was getting irritated because of him. I regret not killing him all those years ago. Letting him slip from my hands is the biggest mistake of my life.

Now that the stain on earth knows about Emily.

And probably is waiting for the moment to harm her.

He knows very well that if he can harm her, he can destroy me.

So, I have to speed up my pace and get together with her and take her to the pack house – that's the only safe place. For now…

After hanging up the phone, I saw her talking on the phone happily, and I felt jealousy in my heart thinking, "She never smiled at me like that."

But for now, I have to go to the pack house and arrange more security.

I kept two of my guards with her to keep her away from any potential dangers.

I couldn't mind-link with Grover and Ian because of the distance, so I messaged them to meet me in my office in the pack house before reaching.

My pack is situated on the borderline of the city with a vast area filled with trees. We wolves need space to run in our wolf form. That's why this place became our base because it was a bit far from the city and we couldn't possibly run inside the city; that would be dangerous for all.

And in the centre, my pack house was built. A three-story house with a big garden in the back. The previous luna, my mother used to take care of the garden herself.

After she died, I never had the heart to change anything there.

The interior is semi-modern with big floor-to-ceiling windows.

The interior mostly contains white black and grey.

I went to my office as soon as I got to the pack house. There, Grover, Ian, and Rose were waiting for me.

They all said in unison, "Alpha."

Grover asked, "What's wrong? Why this urgent meeting?"

Ian and Rose were listening attentively.

During these types of situations, they don't call me by my name but call me by my title.

"Xavier, I think he got the whiff of the news that I found my mate. He is seen lurking around my apartment complex. I am not 100% sure if he knows it's Emily or not. I think even if he doesn’t know yet, he’ll find out soon.”

They all looked visibly irritated by his name. The harm he did to us last time, we still cannot forget.

He attacked us on my 14th birthday right after I shifted. I was too weak to defend anyone, so I had to run. My mother helped me flee. Even then he found me and wounded me badly. When she couldn't run with me any longer, she hid me in a nearby house and ran in a different direction. He and his accomplice caught her and killed her mercilessly. He did all that to disrupt the peace of the werewolf world. He wanted to break the council down bit by bit but couldn't due to my father hindering him. So he took it out on my mother and me when father was out due to work. Though I survived, I lost my mother forever. The pack lost their beloved Luna.

After my mother passed away, my father grew weaker day by day. He was heartbroken because of the death of his mate, so I had to take over the pack at the age of sixteen.

The loss of a mate can be devastating, especially for alphas who have the added responsibility of protecting the pack. For my father, the need to protect the pack and me kept him sane, but his health kept declining day by day.

After becoming the alpha, I tried to search for him.

I found his accomplices based on my memory and took revenge, but he always slipped I didn't miss any place he could be hiding, but with no results.

It felt like he never existed.

But this time, he appeared again to harm my mate and me. I have to find him before he finds my mate…

I assigned the task of finding him to Ian and Rose.

The gamma couple is the best tracker in my pack. I have complete faith in them.

I also asked Grover to strengthen the security near her clinic, home, and every place she regularly visits.

After the conversation, they all went to do their duties. And I looked at the clock.

It’s almost time for her to get out of work.

So, I also took off for the apartment, I reached and started to prepare for the party.

Cooked food, arranged the things that needed to be arranged and got myself cleaned up.

And waited patiently for her to come…
